Course Hosting on Website vs Platform
Hi! I know there are a lot of course creators out there, and want to get some ideas from the group. I currently host my course on Thinkific and there are some conveniences there for sure! But I am considering hosting my courses on my own website platform (assuming I can find the right person to help with this and it is an investment that makes sense). Has anyone here hosted their course on their website or considered it? What are the pros and cons in your opinion?

@Sandy Shaw Thank you so much Sandy! I use Wordpress and am definitely not ready to switch to WIX but I do appreciate knowing that option exists and that you find the integrations work well! Hosting my own course on the website would definitely improve SEO!!! That was one of my main reasons for considering it! Thank you… I really appreciate the insights!

@Leoni Milano Haha! My mom always said that! I know that each platform has pros and cons.. and switching sometimes is just switching headaches, LOL. I have so much infrastructure already invested in Thinkific… I would need a compelling reason to switch. Are you a course creator? What platform do you use?
🥳 What are you OBSESSED with in your business right now? 🤓
Let’s share the excitement with folks that will understand ❤️😅 My current obsession is over a membership idea I plan on starting in September 😱😱😱😱 I’m really struggling to calm down and do the spring/summer stuff before jumping on the new idea wagon 😄🥳😍 What are you OBSESSED with right now?! 😊

@Christina Lopez Working on this right now! It takes time, but I know once it is in place it will pay off!

If I hear a song I like on someone's reels, I save it. When I have time, I take the URL for that song and put it on a google sheet so I can add notes and inspiration when I am batching. I have a friend in a totally different niche who has great music that fits my brand (calm with few lyrics is what I look for) and I can often find a few songs on her feed. So, look around at trending songs, and look for accounts that you admire (that ideally are in a different niche) to make a collection of songs you can use for the future! Hope this helps. I am no pro, but this works for me.
Charging too little- but in my industry its a challenge
@Mariah Coz (and anyone else with wisdom to share!) I am watching one of your videos where you discuss high touch (like Q+A, community and loads of support) as being a premium offer ($ 1k - 4k) I am in the dog training business and offer a very successful 4 week training course for new puppy owners, and I charge (after affiliate payouts and discounts) $167. The normal price is $227. Last year I hit my 100k revenue goal! 🙌 Here is my question: I don't know how to offer a "signature course" as you are describing for the dog training world. And, I don't think people would be willing to pay more since I am already on the upper end for online dog training courses. I am considering adding more "evergreen" low ticket offers for perspective students that lead into my 4 week course... and "evergreen" digital products for students after they graduate to give them a way to keep learning and growing after the 4 weeks. Should I keep my course as it is (since it is doing well) and focus on building my funnel (low ticket/high ticket) ? Or is there another way for me to add higher premium offer that I am just not yet seeing? Any advice or guidance is appreciated. And, thank you for all your educational materials. I am learning a lot as I rethink my business strategy! 🤓

@Kelly Kotanidis Thank you so much for these insights and thoughts! My mom always used to say if it ain't broke, don't fix it! I'd love to know more about your products/services, price point and volume to get an idea of what is possible. My concern with volume is the time I give each student... and the fact I offer community support. My costs are high so that I can deliver quality services and produce content ect.... I love the idea of a summit! I will keep thinking on that! Thanks for your feedback!

@Sarah Crosley YES! I love the "bookend" idea of a LT offer up front and a LT offer or membership once they complete the course. I know my students LOVE the course and ask for what comes next! I just need to create it! 🫠 What is your area of work and do you have online courses too?
How to survey your audience
Hey! I'm looking for inspiration and advice on how to best survey my audience about what they want help with right now. In all the years I've been around I've never actually done this (I know, I know, really weird). I'm thinking of going with some pre-determined categories and the keeping an "other" option open where they can respond to my email with what they want help with if it doesn't fall into the categories provided. Any pros/cons doing it this way or what to think of to ensure I get the best response rate AND that the answers are actually helpful?

@Kori Tomelden Thank you so much for sharing this! I am in the process of creating a survey and will use many of these tips! I love the magic wand question, and forgot to add it in my upcoming survey. Thanks!
