Step 1 I would take would be to ask them what they already know, then to set research and sharing tasks so that you don't teach it, they discover it.

OK, done!
How would you build up the workshop session?
Hello, super-facilitators! I'm in need of help. How would you build up the workshop session? I have a client who wants to have workshop session instead of focus-group interview to find out what are the needs and dreams of topics they want to study (to learn something about related with their hobby or that would improve their work-life tremendously). Also that I would found out their reasons why they need one or another topic to learn. 40 people, no connection other that that they have participated previously in some study sessions. I would divide them into 4 groups. And every group gets 1,5 hours. How would you built up the session? What canvases would you use?

I don't use canvases. But what I find useful is to make a list of questions that the session needs to answer. Then I build a part to answer each question.
Why do people call you?
I recently rad a quick experiment with about 30 colleagues and clients to answer the statement, "You should call Garett when____________________". I then took all the responses and ran it through AI to get a succinct statement. Here's what AI reported: "Call Garett when you need to energize a group, foster creative collaboration, and drive alignment around complex challenges." This led me to think more about how I might introduce myself to people. ""Hey! I’m Garett. I energize groups to solve sticky problems more creatively." or "Hi. I'm Garett. I facilitate fun and fruitful collaboration." Or "Hi. I'm Garett. I'm the person you call when your team's creative juices need a refill." Why do people call you?

Wow, I am SO going to try this out, thanks!
Hello from Underwater
Hi, I joined the Facilitator club a couple of weeks ago on the advice of @Tarynlee Kearney . (And what great advice that was!) My field of expertise is creative thinking. I help people and teams to understand what creativity is, how it works and how to get more of it. The main take aways from my work are: better collaboration, improved problem solving and much better ideation! (With knock-on effects on culture 😉) I live in a small town in The Netherlands and am busy building my business and finding my way. I've been in training and facilitation for over 20 years but I'm not specifically trained. I'm also a keynote speaker dedicated to making the world a better place by activating the inherent creativity of as many people as I can reach!

@Javier von Westphalen Well it's mostly been unpredictable haphazard and involved a great deal of serendipity on the one hand and blood, sweat and tears on the other. I came into facilitating from a speaking/acting and business background, as a by product of writing books... Ask whatever you want to know!🥸
