eBay item specifics
Do any of you guys create your own item specific description on eBay if you don’t find it in the drop down menu?

If it's a searchable field and I feel like the keyword is important, but that doesn't happen too often
Shipping 'Adjustment' Issues
Hey guys, is anyone else having strange issues with eBay adjusting shipping charges? I have received several and am trying to figure them out. One was a credit back for about $4. The message claimed that an item I shipped only weighed 5 oz, but that I entered it as 1 lb 2 oz (or something like that). I just let it go, thinking it was just a fluke. Today, I got another adjustment claiming that I entered 1 lb 4.96 oz and USPS was claiming it was acutally 2.0 lbs (exactly?). I could see being off by an ounce maybe, but this doesn't seem right. Also, isn't it impossible to enter anything other than whole numbers (5 oz instead of 4.96 oz). Anyone else experiencing something like this?

I was getting hit with these pretty often for seemingly nonsensical things. I now add 1" to all boxes dimensions and also round my weight up instead of trying to be exact. Since I revised my personal policy on this, I've only received refunds. No more charges.
Category Matters!
Thought I would try a little experiment this morning. Something I've been thinking about lately. I've been wondering how much of a difference category makes to STR on a certain item. I decided to try this morning with a pair of Nike Golf Pants. In the eBay search, I typed in "Nike Golf", then calculated STR for a few different categories. Here's what I found: Mens > Pants - 37.8% STR Sporting Goods > Golf > Mens Clothing - 39.7% Mens > Activewear > Pants - 42.8% I think this is pretty significant! 5% difference in STR depending on just category.

@Jerry Wilson Yes, I'm thinking that it shows that category choice affects STR. Let me know if I'm thinking about this wrong. I don't think it matters how many items are listed in the categories because you're looking at proportionality. If Nike Golf Pants in one category have 10,000 listed and 3,000 sold (30%) and 5,000 listed and 2,000 sold in another (40%), I think that shows stronger sales in the 2nd category, even though there are fewer listed there.

@Jerry Wilson Can you elaborate on your findings? Which category were they selling for the most in?
Let's see your inventory set up.
Recently, I closed my store on ebay.. for many reasons.. one being i have been unable to make it to source thrift stores and Goodwills for Merchandise due to my crazy wk schedule.. I'm about to re open my store and am shifting it up. I'm going to be shifting to more drugstore finds as I have a reputable sourcing Poc to get good in date merchandise... does anyone here do drug store OTC, what is your inventory set up if u do.. I'm dabbling with something in my mind but want to see what you guys have as well. I am still going to sell clothing. But am going to be more stringent as I look at sell through rates for clothing and other merchandise.. plus etc drugstore stuff sells pretty much all year.. yes I know there is a lot of competition, yes I did this back when I first started and had mild success.. I know now where I can improve.. thanks in advance.

I had a pair of Ariat shoes sell for $70. But this also happened. Mind blown.
