New PR - 275
Previous best - 255 Even though my main focus is to grow arms, I also love benching and got back into barbell about a month ago as another goal of mine is to press 315. Since my goals require a mix of both hypertrophy and strength training, it might take a bit longer to achieve both simultaneously, however, here’s a perfect example that you can absolutely accomplish multiple things at once. As long as you love the movements you’re doing, it won’t matter if you get to your destination in 5 weeks versus 9 weeks! Side note: need to keep hips down a bit better and could pause a tad longer at the bottom, though, im not a competing powerlifter, and ill take it for commercial gym standards haha

Intro
What’s up guys, im AJ, 32 years old and about 2.5 years into my journey. Trained with Jacob a ton in the past and have tried a handful of programs like powerlifting, hypertrophy, hybrid of the two etc. Since I was super skinny my whole life, my goals primarily are to gain weight/mass and also strength (started at 165lb body weight and currently hovering between 210-215) I’ve learned ALOT from working with Jacob and also with a ton of just my own trial and error. Id love to hear from you guys one piece of advice youve learned along the way thats helped you in your journey!

@Alexander Lewis Thank you!! You absolutely can, just being consistent with all those pieces of the puzzle will take you further that you'd ever think. And just to give an idea of what I do: -Train 4 times a week, a 5th if I can -Eat relatively decent 5 days a week (I know it could be better) -Good sleep, I try to get at least 7 hrs. Again, could be better -Supplements, although a smaller slice of the pie, i'd still say it's important enough as it could be hard to get ALL nutrition through whole foods (creatine, multivitamins/fish oils, I also take glutamine and lysine) -Rest days, I usually take Wednesdays and the Weekends off unless I squeeze a Saturday workout in. On these days off, fill your soul with what makes you happy. Socializing, hikes, family time, etc. By no means am I saying that what I do is what other people should do, just giving an idea of what's worked for me, maybe there's a piece or two anybody could take from that and mold it into what works for them!
