Hi all, I'm planning my future videography business and I'm wondering if you have any experience with hiring someone for backoffice work (keeping in touch with the clients, organizing shooting days and post production). If so what are your experiences? How do you pay for this type of work? Also, is it possible to include the relationship building with potential clients as well? For me it would be a good deal if I could share the business income with someone who would organize these things. I appriciate if you share your insights!

@Cody Milewski Yes, thank you! It is logical of course and I wont be able to afford this for some time... But I'm still interested :) Did you pay those people in proportion of the work that they have done or on a fix salary? You hired them or they were independent entrepreneurs that you worked with? Thanks in advance for your reply!

@Cody Milewski That's awsome, thanks! My objective is to keep in mind while I'm still doing things alone to create routines and prices that will make possible to assign these task to others in the future. Your experience really helps in planning!

Corporate Interviews/Testimonials
Here are a few frames from my recent shoot. I achieve this look with a cheap Godox lighting kit I paid $450 for. It came with 2 lights, diffusers, and stands. I have only 30 minutes on set to get lights, mics, and cams up so very little time to play. I've learned to hire a PA for these shoots to help. I work one on one with a producer from an agency who hires me for these 1 day shoots. We start with interviews, break and then shoot broll. The shoot runs from 9am - 3pm and they pay me $2200 if the producer is there, or $2900 if I'm solo. She conducts the interviews via zoom or in person. No editing. Just delivery of RAW files. It's an extremely low stress production. Furthermore. I once had dreams of purchasing Aputure's, light domes, and Cstands, however now I'm dubious. One light would easily run me $1500..... My client has made it clear to me that she is more than happy with these results. The major benefits of my Godox kit is of course that it is super cheap. I don't even sand bag them on set because they are so light it's virtually impossible to hurt someone and if they fall they land light. Even if one were to fail, I'd still have a key light and they are of course crazy cheap to replace.

I would be really happy to have a job exactly like this! What did you do to get it? I have a lot similar interview in my portfolio but I make one for about one tenth of your price. What do you think I should try to do if I'm looking for a similar job without organizing and editing? Thanks!

My questions are mainly based upon the objective of not wanting to give all my creative energy to making corporate videos for a living. I want to have time for my own documentary projects, which I hope one day will pay me as well. 1. How to achive minimal work in addition to the shooting days? (I would avoid the organization, communication and post production parts as much as possible). 2. Is it possible to gain a passive income from for example creating a production company where I have minimal work? 3. How can I outsource work to others? 4. How to grow a business in order to sell it later? 5. Is it a good idea to specialize in testimonial videos and create a simple workflow that can be easily outsourced for example? 6. How to avoid too much corporate work if you have a lot of clients, but you want to limit your working days? 7. Do you have to maintain a good realtionship with all clients because of their reviews on your production company? 8. Is there a potential in creating stock videos for a passive income? 9. Is it possible to reject a client for ethical reasons? (For example in my country there is a lot of market figures who got rich by corruption of our authoritarian government). How shold you do that? 10. What is a good strategy to get money for my own passion projects as well?
