Worst Advice You've Ever Been Given as an Artist...
For Drew and I, we were told many years ago, "Never work with your spouse..." and then another time, "Don't ever license your art..." and then another time, "Don't make prints of your art." All of these things are what helped us create success in the business of art. I'm so glad we didn't listen to this advice! How About You? Share below!

"Take help from your colleagues." It turned out that my colleagues saw me as their competitor and treated me accordingly.

Finish using up my inventory of A4 size pastel paper sheets so I can move on to making bigger pastel paintings.
HAPPY FRIDAY! What was one big WIN this week?
I love this question; my wise business coach Ralph begins every session, asking me this. It forces me to look for the good, even when it was a rough week! :) They say that the feelings of gratitude bring in "good luck" or just good things in general. So the practice of NOTICING the good stuff is important, if you want to draw more good stuff to you. FOR ME: I got a deposit to hold a painting! This was a big one - it's 72" tall and 24" wide, and it's been sitting around for years. It's an awesome piece (photo below) - the collector who bought it loves to pay CASH. He's one of my favorite buyers. October has been really slow for art sales (it always is) and so selling this painting on October 30th saved the month :)

One of my paintings got accepted into an international competition.
What are you working on this weekend?
Post a video or photo below 👇🏽of what you’re working on! (Even if it’s not work 😀). I’m writing ✍️ a short proposal for a very odd painting project for my hubby Drew - and normally Drew would say “no” to it, but this client pays very well and will buy more art. See my silly video below. What’s yours?!

I'm continuing a 31-day pastel painting challenge from a Facebook group.
Day 30 - 30 Day Challenge "Sell More Art!" 🎨
Day 30: Reflection & Craft Your Elevator Pitch We’ve made it to the final day! Congratulations!! Give yourself a big tap on your back! The challenge wasn't easy so you can be proud of yourself! Today’s Focus: 1. Reflect on Your Journey - List 3 good things that came out of this challenge for your personal growth - Also list 1 thing you now know you need to work on 2. Create Your 3-Sentence Elevator Pitch - Summarize your art introduction from day 27 to 3 clear sentences that describe your art and who it is for. - Example: “I create sculpture like artworks that captures the feeling of abundance and living a life of your dreams, perfect for people who believe in the law of attraction.” - You can then use this to introduce your art in live when people ask you what you do or even send it to people. It’s much more interesting than just “I am an artist” :D  Bonus Action: Send Your Pitch to one person and include a link so they can see your art (could be per Email, whatsapp, facebook, instagram etc) Share in the Comments: - What are 3 good things that came out of this challenge for your personal growth? - What is 1 thing you now know you need to work on? - Share with us your elevator pitch too Well done guys! Even if you couldn't finish every task you can still be proud of yourself! Make sure to celebrate yourself today!

Day 30: 3 good things that came out of this challenge for my personal growth: - I started posting on Instagram more regularly, this led to hundreds more views and some more followers - I started reaching out to more people via DM to promote my art - I started making more art just so that I had something new to show on Instagram 1 thing I now know I need to work on: - Converting viewers to buyers My elevator pitch: "My art captures the fleeting beauty of everyday moments through the detailed and classical techniques of soft pastels, inspired by the Renaissance and Baroque periods. My art offers a moment of pause in a fast-paced world. Designed for art lovers who appreciate timeless and quiet beauty, my work speaks to the simplicity and elegance in life’s subtle details."
