What does a six-figure income mean for you? This weekend, I went to a wedding where the bride and groom—and a good chunk of the attendees—were former coworkers from my first marketing agency. As we caught up on each other's lives, we all seemed to have a similar story that began with, "After I was laid off..." Marketing agencies are notorious for layoffs. It's rare to go over two years at an agency without some part of the company being chopped for budgetary reasons. I, myself, have been laid off from my last three agencies. The first time it happens, you think, "What did I do wrong?" The second time, you think, "Is this just my life now?" And the third, you think, "I need to build my own thing that can't be taken away from me." Which is a big reason for Six Figure Writer. Not only is it an opportunity to teach what I've learned over the last 10+ years to other people to help them earn an income outside of their normal 9-5, but it's also an opportunity to build something for myself that can't be ripped away. I do not want to live at the mercy of people who just look at spreadsheets and use algorithms to make budget cuts to please shareholders. If I can help even one person in this community become immune to their employer's whims, then it will all be worth it. After every single layoff, I became smarter and stronger. Since my last one in March of this year, I've more than doubled the income I was making before. The freedom that comes from knowing you control your own destiny is a feeling I want everyone in this group to have someday. I will work my butt off to make this the greatest investment of time you've ever made.

Dan Koe has something similar that he calls the Domain of Mastery. I call it a "Center of Intention." Essentially, I'm working on creating intention with my attention. I'm doing this by only consuming information from mentors (books, videos, and content by those I look up to). This helps me learn quicker, improve faster, and build my POV.
