Starting each day by journaling is a mental health practice for me. No intention other than to get the noise in my head out of there and onto the page. This practice brings clarity, shows me where my stress lies. But it also gives me an opportunity to be heard (yes, heard by myself). Maybe I really want to talk about something, but it has nothing to do with my work. Often, just getting it out in a throwaway journal while I sip coffee is enough. If your brain chews on ideas, and that energy is depleting you, try doing a brain dump every morning. Writing is thinking. And if you’re only thinking in your head, you could spend months, even years burning energy thinking about something over and over and over. Write it down. Move on. Your mind will thank you.
