The bittersweet end of an era for the SH community!
Hey Superhuman Fam,
It's been over 3 years, 400+ classes and tons of fun since starting up this amazing community. My life has been impacted in so many positive ways by every single one of you. Our lives have changed so much during the pandemic but we stayed strong and kept our bodies moving. Over the years, we've kept things fun, fresh and challenging. So much growth...and so many different places that we did workouts from. Especially me! Don't forget the names ... remember burnscience? lifegenics? ah, the good ol' memories of searching for an identity. My favorite was lifegenics FYI!
One thing you probably know about me by now is that I'm always looking to improve and continue to develop myself and the people around me. That has led me to really think about my current capacity and where I want to go next with my life, my next ventures and of course, where we want to go as a fitness community.
Before I dive into any of that too much, I first had to think long and hard about my capacity for live classes as that is the centerfold of value for our community (at least that's my perspective). We currently stand at roughly 3 classes per week / 12 classes per month, with each workout being 100% unique to the one before. Speaking of ... I've NEVER done the same workout twice. With over 400 workouts ... thats an impressive feat and I commend all of you for joining me on that journey!
With my desire to travel more, as well as unexpected events such as tech issues, injuries, illness, location, burnout and a SLEW of other factors... keeping up with this kind of schedule (as you can probably imagine) is becoming more and more difficult. Add to that our attendance on live classes averaging around 3 people (without really increasing over the last 6 months) and the operation (as a business) also becomes a bit cost prohibitive to say the least.
My passion to coach and improve the lives of the people in this community is what has driven me to continue delivering the live classes. I believe that, at this point, a lot of that work is done and the classes that can make the real impact and have made the real impact...have been completed. With so many classes available on-demand and our current low live class attendance rate (with the world changing back to normal, work schedules and other factors)...I have to make some tough decisions on whether it makes sense to continue our live class schedule.
Before I go any further, here is the deal no matter what: Anyone in this community will have FREE ACCESS FOREVER to any workout I've ever done and put on this platform. No fees. Ever.
One other really important part of my decisions we drive by non other than the amazing Kat Weir. She has been such a positive impact to this community and I couldn't have done it without her. She was PIVOTAL in SO MANY things behind the scenes to make sure I showed up for everyone in the best way possible. Her schedule changed drastically with her new career move and she can't be a part of something that was meant to be a project we shared and connected us very deeply. Without her, things are not the same for me. She was my north star, my reminder to get things posted, to show up as my best, to deliver the best I can deliver. She drove me to excellence and you experienced her effort first hand. Kat - I could have NEVER done this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
So, where do I stand? Well...as you probably guessed...I need a break. A break from the demands of the live schedule and the space to determine how I can best serve the people in this community who still WANT live training. I genuinely believe there will be a possible individual training or small group training program that I will launch which will leave all of you with more customized coaching, training and nutrition guidance. At the end of the day, this is all about you - the member. Before I figure all of this out, I need to create some space so that I can determine my capacity and truly build a sustainable offering that makes sense financially and from a time perspective long term. For both me as your coach and for you as a member - this is of utter importance.
Now, where do we go from here? I'll be continuing to teach classes through August and then pausing ALL of the billing as of September 1. Also, I have to adjust our weekly schedule to Tues, Thurs, Friday instead of Saturday because the shared studio from where I teach has a weekly Yoga class now that starts at 9am and everyone gets there around 8:30 (again little issues like this are a constant battle for me to maintain a consistent live schedule). So, here is the remaining T / Th / F class schedule (will adjust in the calendar as well):
13, 15, 16 | 20, 22, 23 | 27, 29, 30
Saturday the 31st @ 8am - 8:30am - I'll be hopping on the zoom to answer any questions you may have about ANYTHING that I can do to help you on your wellness journey. I may also have some answers around private or small group coaching and training and what that could potentially look like. If there is any interest in that - we can discuss it at that time. If you can't attend - I understand. I won't take it to heart. It is not an easy decision for me after all these years. But, I believe that the good we did here will echo positively in the minds, bodies and hearts of everyone that ever touched this platform. Thank you all so much for your belief and trust in me to guide you through something so personal, so impactful and so important to you. I will NEVER forget it and I will cherish it for the rest of my life. Thank you all so much for helping me become someone I never thought I could become. Someone better than anyone I could have imagined.
I'll post a video as well but if you are more of a reader - then this is for you.
With love, respect and resistance bands,
Paul Masters <3
