The Pizza Slice Method of plotting a novel

I’m currently working on the Pizza Slice Method of plotting a novel. In a nutshell, it’s a simple and visual way to break a story into four manageable and engaging parts (four acts), much like slicing a pizza. Each “slice” represents a mini-story or act within the overall narrative, with its own beginning, middle, and end.

The Pizza Slice Method keeps a novel organized and ensures a natural flow of rising tension. Each slice builds on the one before it, creating a sense of momentum.

It’s especially useful for new writers because:

It simplifies a complex story into smaller, digestible parts.

It ensures each act has its own mini-arc (beginning, middle, end), which keeps readers engaged throughout.

It helps writers focus on building tension and making sure every part of the story matters.
