Healthcare worker's pay increase
Good morning! A heads up, caregivers are considered domestic workers. The new bill where they are deciding the pay increase for healthcare workers only applies to people who work in facilities. If you have caregivers who are in your non-medical in home care agency and they are sent to client's homes for care they do not fall under this bill. With that being said, pay your caregivers and pay them well. The agencies where I am located is paying their caregivers minimum wage. This is why it was so easy for me to go from a staff of 2 in January to now almost 40 -EXCEPTIONAL caregivers. I pay $4 dollars above minimum wage, cell phone reimbursement and mileage. Do right by your caregivers and they will do right by you.

Habitually late caregiver
I have this amazing caregiver that does an amazing job and she even refers me other amazing caregivers. She can’t clock in on time to save her life. Here’s a screen shot of our conversation. I created a letter with her plan of action along with some of my suggestions. I will let you know how it goes.

My weekly caregiver dinner
I do this weekly dinner or lunch with a caregiver who’s going above and beyond and I can tell you they love it and always look forward to it. It builds our culture and is helping immensely with retention.

My curated dream team.
Context: 1st text from my office manager, 2nd from my staff manager and 3rd from my assistant. I had the luxury of spending the last two days at the Acquisiton.com scaling workshop because and for my team. Rewind 5-10 years ago, you couldn’t pay me enough to leave my brand new business to go to a workshop!! These texts would have looked a lot different. Fast forward to now and today, I had the opportunity to turn off my phone and be present during this life changing event. Checking in with my team was a treat and reaffirming in the confidence in my team. I heard other attendees talk about how hard “finding good people who want to work” was and “no one wants to work anymore.” The same attendees would rail their managers and employees over the phone during the breaks and talk to other attendees about how shitty their team was. Having the awareness I do now, I understand that in order to have a good team you have to be good internally first so that you project and attract good to you. I am so grateful for my team. 🙏🫶🏽

30 Caregivers in 30 days
Ambitious? Crazy? Intense? Yes and I love it. Just by the end of this week alone I will have interviewed and met with 13 caregivers. I have already hired, onboarded and put on shift 3 within the last 24 hours. Last week I met with 9 and only hired 3. The others I let down respectfully. I have posted on Next Door, FB, Instagram and TikTok. What is your plan on hiring? How will you vet them? What is your interview process? My original one was finding people who had a pulse and can breath on their own and boy did I learn my lesson QUIK. Underdeveloped, unmotivated employees will cost you more than just stress. TRUST ME.
