Our New Podcast Logo - 5150 Security Monkey
Hello Everyone, Navigating the security industry often feels like a wild ride, doesn't it? To embody this spirit, I've conceived an animated character that captures our unique world: a zany monkey sporting a Napoleon hat, aptly named "5150." This number isn't just random; it's a nod to the health and safety code for those who may be a risk to themselves or others, often leading to a 72-hour evaluation period. The 5150 Monkey will serve as our mascot, symbolizing the unpredictable nature of our field with a touch of humor. I'm excited to bring this character to life through animation for our intros and more. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this idea, so please drop a comment below! 097: Urgent Vs. Important: How Top Security Experts Know the Difference
Owners and Operations Managers in the security industry often feel like professional firefighters. They spend their entire workday chasing down and fixing urgent problems, and when it's time to go home, they realize they haven't done anything to improve the business. When we're in firefighting mode, it becomes difficult to distinguish between working on the business and working in the business. This is a dangerous place to be, because if we don't set aside time to work on the business, we'll never meet our goals and we'll eventually fall behind the competition. In my job as VP of Customer Success at Silvertrac, I'm used to hearing this kind of complaint from the security professionals I talk to. They'll say things like: I know replacing the reporting system will be a major step forward for my business, but I just can't find time in the day to make it happen. Thankfully, there are techniques you can use to get out of firefighting mode and start achieving your business goals. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/097-urgent-vs-important-how-top-security-experts-know/id989385695?i=1000399572426

When your company is responsible for the safety of hundreds or thousands of people, situations are bound to arise where someone feels your officers were not doing their jobs correctly.
