Minerals: Important to Life!
When it comes to supplementation most of the focus is on vitmains. However, it could be said that minerals are really the source of life. Our bodies can go far longer suffering with a vitamin deficiency than they can with a deficit of minerals.
The minerals in our bodies are so important that the body goes to complicated, even desperate lengths to maintain their balance.
Minerals function as a unit. If a cell is deficient in a single mineral, it will suffer from the loss or imbalance of several.
Minerals are categorized as essential and non essential. Those minerals that some categorize as non essential, subsequently have been shown to be necessary to the total function of the human body.
Both extra and intra cellular fluids function only because of a carefully maintained ratio of minerals in solution.
The interaction of two minerals enables the body cells to tak in nutrients and dispose of toxins which are the by products of that metabolism.
This is called the sodium-potassium pump.
In order for minerals to be absorbed through the
intestinal membrane they should be combined with negatively charged particles. This is what plants do when they take up minerals from the soil. When you eat the plant you are eating the plant's minerals in an already combined and electrochemically neutralized form. Plants provide us minerals. However, as we know, the soil has to be rich in minerals in order to benefit from the plant kingdom,
Minerals are foundational for our overall health. They assist the body in multiple functions and when there is a mineral deficiency the body will let you know.
