Congrats to my client Amy for crushing it on her marathon yesterday!
She set a PR by 26 minutes.
Before we started working together she was following the typical marathon training plan. (Running 4-5x a week and not do any strength training.)
And because of that, she was running 5+ hour marathons and not to happy with her performance.
She wanted to do better...
She had an ambitious goal of a sub 5 hour marathon with a stretch goal of 4 hours and 45 minutes.
I told her it was possible, but we needed to change the way she was training.
So that's exactly what we did...
I told her we were going to run just 3x a week and incorporate strength training 3x a week.
This was going to help her feel strong on the backend of the marathon.
And at first she was a little hesitant because she didn't think running 3x a week would be enough...
She also didn't have much experience lifting weights.
But luckily she trusted me and the plan.
From there she followed it to a T. Doing exactly what I layed out for her.
And what do you know, it worked.
She finished the Grandma's Marathon in 4 hours and 42 minutes smashing her previous time.
And best of all she loves to lift weights now and looks forward to it every week.
Way to go Amy.
