Decentralized Leadership
One of the greatest things to experience in a leadership growth journey is when members of your team uphold leadership principles, the culture of the team, and the effort toward growth when you're not there.

How do you hire?
This isn't about Indeed or ad campaigns; I want to talk about your process for deciding who is the right fit for your team, and why. At my company, for any entry level position, whether it be sales, marketing, what have you, we hire for culture first. We believe we can train the skillset if we have the right people for the team. What traits do you look for for your team? Do you have an established culture? How does each member of your team fit into the vision of that team's success, and is there something missing you need to hire for? I recently had a very strong culture on the team, but there was one element that could have been improved upon, which was strict consistent effort and professionalism. A hire I brought in for that role showed more work ethic than almost anyone at the company, more attention to detail, more professionalism, and more dedication. Being one of the newest members, he's placed himself in the top 20% of the sales force having NO prior sales experience month after month consistently. Now other members of the team are adopting his way of training, studying, pitching, and the team as a unit works harder, and the board reads of his impact. Another notable member of my team is the staple of positivity and a great culture. He's another in the top 20% of the office that attends every leadership meeting, posts in our leadership chats his studying every day, and actively seeks opportunities to support and ad value to others, often through having the tough conversations most people would be afraid of. He wants nothing to do with the titles and technical promotions or the paperwork required, but he's one of the most influential leaders in the office none the less, and his niche on the team has been required for our growth. Tell me about your team

What is your plan for growth?
Everyone says they have dreams, have goals, or that they're going to accomplish something. What do you want? Where are you now in relation? What is your plan to get from where you are to where you're going to be? That is your growth gap. The only difference between where you stand and all the accomplishments you desire, is your own growth to be the person that has all of those things. So what's your plan?

What is Legacy Leadership?
This is a community dedicated to studying, discussing, and applying leadership principles. I believe that true value in life is what can be passed on. I've never met someone that does not enjoy teaching (or telling) someone how to do something. I've never met someone that doesn't enjoy learning something and growing a skill. The combination of these things is leadership. Leadership is what makes people great, it's what builds champions and champion teams. Leadership is influence. When one person has a profound impact on another person or group of people's lives for the better, they are a leader. Learning to study, practice, and devote myself to leadership principles and thought processes is what has drastically improved my life in everything that I do. I'm a college drop out, solid C student in High School, and before finding a true mentor in leadership, I couldn't hold a job for more than a year at a time. I always wanted more, always wanted to grow, always wanted to become exceptional, but I didn't really understand that's what I wanted at first. I didn't understand what exceptional meant let alone how to take the first steps toward it. I didn't understand how to grow, or how to learn. I even had big, lofty 10x goals and I committed them to memory and saying them every day, but I didn't know why I had those goals, and I didn't understand that without an actual step by step plan to achieve them, they were merely dreams. Enter, a true leader. A mentor of mine took me under his wing. He hired me for a sales position at a start up company with exactly two employees, once I walked through the door. There was no salary, no benefits, no company car or reimbursement for gas, and there was a promise of thousands of miles a week in driving to hopefully make some money selling a premium service. Most people would look at that on a sheet of paper and walk away, but there was something in this man willing to take me under his wing, teach me sales, teach me how to learn, to grow, and to lead.
