the ability to let go of things has helped me the most in the last two years. I used to be the guy who kept ruminating about stuff. This led to me developing OCD as well. but after reading a lot of science and spiritual literature, I realized how important letting go of emotions is. I now have much better mental health.
for anyone in the situation as the former me, here are some resources -

So cool that you share your journey and your struggles! And really nice to hear and see that you've found a way through it. 🙌

For me, it's difficult to pin point one thing. It's a cumulative group of decisions like sacking a client that was difficult, killing a business that wasn't working out and generally jumping out of the plane and figuring things out before I hit the ground.
Sometimes you need to just jump. Take the leap so to speak.

I've discovered that true happiness lies in letting go of lofty expectations. Previously, I constantly set high benchmarks for myself, only to find that with each achievement, my expectations would escalate, turning satisfaction into an elusive pursuit. However, embracing a shift in perspective, I started to set my expectations at a minimum, finding joy in simple daily accomplishments, like the mere act of waking up. This doesn't mean I lack goals or ambition; I still strive towards my aspirations but without the pressure of expecting outcomes. This subtle detachment has paradoxically brought me closer to my goals, achieving them with a sense of peace rather than a chase for fulfillment. It's a journey from a place of contentment, not a race against expectations.

Love this:
finding joy in simple daily accomplishments, like the mere act of waking up.
We don't give ourself enough credit for the small wins.

For me, the biggest change is that I have started to be content with "Who I am" and my "strengths and weaknesses". I realized not so long ago that I always pushed myself to higher limits as I wanted ... to impress my dad and I am in my early 50's... I put too much stress on me which led to a burnout 7 years ago. Since then, I am far less anxious and more peaceful and ... I am achieving higher results !;-)

WOW, biggest impact? That's a big one! I'd say realising that freedom is one of the most important things to me and living life accordingly, outside of societies norms. And I'm looking to take it Next Level now 🤣

yes! I read your comment in another thread about realising money isn't as important as freedom and not working for somebody else. I agree. I don't want to be rich - I just want my SaaS to pay me enough to pay the mortgage etc so I can quit my day job and stop working for other people.

When I realized that spending my time for free is the worst thing I ever did to myself

Can you explain this? What do you mean by spending your time for free?

I’ve been providing my time & not charging for it, especially the one that makes business for them

The change is yet to come! I can't say I've had major shifts in my happiness and joy, I'm pretty satisfied in a place where I am but we'll see how it goes! It's your turn now ;)

Interesting, what difference has it made to be in a warmer climate?
