FLU BOMB 💣

Flu Bombs are the ideal accompaniment for your tea on days when the sniffles, runny noses, and sore throats are running rampant through the house. This homemade tonic, loaded with fresh lemon, ginger, and garlic, is full of natural immune boosters and recognized antiviral components like turmeric and honey, which can help fight off cold and flu symptoms.

Apple cider vinegar and cinnamon are there for their immune benefits and soothing tastes; the kick of cayenne and black pepper provides warmth and may help alleviate some of that nasty congestion.

These flu bombs are super easy to make. You'll reaching for them every time you feel a cold coming on! Not only are they great for immune support, but they’re budget-friendly, and you can make a whole batch to get you through the season!

Ingredients:

2 large lemons (peeled)

2 large pieces of fresh ginger

1 head of garlic

2 tbsp ground turmeric (you can also use fresh!)

1 tbsp. black pepper

1 tbsp. ground cinnamon

1 - 1 1/2 tbsp. cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar (ACV)

2 tbsp. honey

3 cups of purified water

Directions:

The first thing you need to do is prepare your ingredients. Begin with peeling your lemons. Next, peel your ginger and cut it into small pieces. If you are using fresh turmeric, make sure to peel it as well. Remove your cloves of garlic, peel, and roughly chop.

Using a high-speed blender, add all of your ingredients. Add fresh lemons, ginger, garlic, turmeric, cayenne, and black pepper, along with cinnamon, ACV (apple cider vinegar), local fresh honey, and water.

Begin on medium speed, then increase to high and blend your mixture until smooth.

Once smooth, strain your mixture through some cheesecloth. If you don't have cheesecloth, then you can use a fine mesh sieve. This may leave some sediment, but that's okay.

Take your strained liquid and carefully pour into your silicone ice cube trays (you want approximately a 2 tbsp serving).

Place in your freezer. Once frozen, I usually remove them from the molds and place them in a large ziplock freezer bag for easy access.
