Maybe you should poll the community to find out what their acceptable minimum hourly rate is? Mine is - Friends & Family $30, Others - $40

if I remember correctly the boys encourage us to not even charge per hour but actually shift our mindset from selling our time to making sales (e.g. offering and charging for packages. Packages may contain live meetings, homework tasks, a self-paced course etc.) This equals to charging for the value we offer and that really makes it...at least for me, very hard to not charge accordingly.

totally agree. Making a living charging by the hour, is not only hard, intense work, there's a ceiling to what you can earn. We don't offer 1 to 1, however our rates came from a 'ninja mind game test'. If you're not familiar with this, here's a quick explanation.
I sit opposite a teacher and watch their expression and say "would you teach 1 to 1 for $20 hr", then keep pushing the price up - "would you teach 1 to 1 for $25 hr" etc. etc. At a certain price point most teacher's expression will change to a more accepting one - that's the Ninja price point and one they're happy with😁

Teaching jobs from EF popped up on my Linkedin last week and out of curiosity I had a look to see what the rates of pay were. I was shocked! For online teaching US $10 an hour. That's disgusting and below minimum wage.

that is disgusting, especially from EF, usually a reputable institute overall. It's something I think we're all working to change.

If anyone doesn't know Nicola, I sat down with her in December after her IATEFL proposal on finances in ELT was rejected....
It would be a pretty good introduction to her and her work and what to expect from the conferences as well
*we had a massive internet delay that day, so bear with us 🙂

Some interesting growth stories, but the access to the interviews was torturous, with too many lead magnets. Just my experience 🤷🏻‍♂️
