How often do you use multiband compression?

Hello everyone,

I'm learning more about multiband compression but having a hard time understanding the practical applications, so I was just wondering how many of you use multiband compression and if you had examples? I read that it's great for tightening up low-end and I read some other things that made it seem like it would be good to add to my arsenal from time-to-time as I work with Hip Hop and other low-end focused genres.

I plan on finding some resources that explain it more simply, but thought I'd reach out on here first to hear some real-time experience.
