Don't build a brand. Build a CULT.
Aight, hear me out...
Building a “cult” following for your biz (in a non-exploitative, ethical sense) means creating a loyal, highly engaged community that supports what you're about.
And I think you can really benefit from taking things away from some of the most successful cults out there.
Here are five cult-like strategies you can incorporate for your Skool community / online biz:
1. Create a Unique, Polarizing Message
Define a clear, strong message that stands out and appeals to a specific group of people. It should be bold enough to be memorable and distinct from mainstream ideas, which naturally attracts followers who feel a deep resonance with it.
Be authentic and emphasize the values or beliefs that define you and the change you want to see. For example, if your mission is helping men reclaim masculinity in a modern world, make that clear and unapologetic.
2. Be A Charismatic Brand Persona
Cult followings are often attracted to strong, charismatic personalities that embody the values and beliefs of the community. Make sure your personal brand aligns with your ideals in a visible way.
Use storytelling to make yourself relatable and showcase your struggles, growth, and transformation. This builds trust and makes followers feel like they’re joining a leader on a journey.
3. Foster an Exclusive Community
Create a sense of exclusivity by offering followers unique access to content, events, or insights not available to the general public. This could be a private community, exclusive Q&As, or premium content that feels special.
Cultivate a language or set of symbols that the group understands, giving members a way to identify with each other. This could include inside jokes, branded terms, a hashtag, or unique rituals that bring followers closer to your mission.
4. Encourage a Shared Identity and Mission
Encourage members to feel that they are part of something greater than themselves. Define a mission that your followers can get behind, one that aligns with their values and aspirations.
Create opportunities for followers to engage with each other and reinforce this shared identity. This could be through online groups, events, challenges, or even an accountability program to deepen bonds within the community.
5. Consistently Deliver Value and Transformation
To maintain a devoted following, provide consistent, valuable content that offers real transformation in their lives. Whether it's advice, tools, or support, followers should feel they’re growing and benefiting from their involvement.
Oh...
And make sure you celebrate member successes, and show how engaging with your brand has helped them make positive changes, reinforcing their investment in your brand and mission.
What are your thoughts on all this?
If you were to incorporate just ONE of the things I listed above... Which would it be? Comment below.
