UPDATE: Group Is Moving (This one shutting down)
Hey Ad Masters, I apologize for neglecting this group. Life has been tumultuous and I have had to make many changes to my business structure and focus. I am therefore shutting this group down in 2 weeks and directing all active members to my Ad Master Coaching group, which I have made free. There is a lot of searchable video content there and more advanced tips, and I'll be adding a sizeable Google Ads course for beginners as well. There will also be monthly group coaching calls, on the first Friday of the month at 10am Central US Time. Please access the group here: https://www.skool.com/admastercoaching?invite=6ddc0c6afc154d76b4786ab6b7d0afcf Thank you for your interest and support. -Ryan Baker Founder, Ad Master Coaching

eCPC Is Going Away For Shopping Ads
Just got this email, thought I'd share in case you've not seen it: Shopping Enhanced CPC Deprecation Dear Google Ads customer, You’re receiving this message because you’re using Enhanced cost-per-click (eCPC) for your Shopping campaigns in the following accounts - (Redacted) What’s changing? Starting in early October 2023, any Shopping campaigns using Enhanced CPC will behave as if they are using Manual CPC bidding. Why are we making this update? Enhanced CPC was the first Smart Bidding strategy we launched over 10 years ago. Since then we’ve launched more advanced bid strategies like Target ROAS, Maximize conversion value, and fully automated campaigns like Performance Max that help you achieve similar or better results. As we continue to adopt these more advanced strategies and campaigns, Shopping campaigns will no longer use Enhanced CPC. What are my options? In your Standard Shopping campaigns, we suggest trying the one-click Target ROAS experiments for Shopping you can find in your campaign settings. You can also try our newest fully automated solution, Performance Max campaigns. If you choose not to make any changes to your campaign by October 2023, your campaign will operate as if it's using Manual CPC bidding

I Thought I Knew Match Types... (Video from my upcoming quick start program)
I've been managing Google Ads for 7+ years. I've taught and coached a lot of ad managers and was very confident in my ability to explain match types... Until, today when I was prepping for the match types video in my Google Ads Quickstart Program (coming soon), I decided I'd go crazy and pull up Google's support articles on match types to see how they phrased it. It was actually helpful! (If you've used Google Support, you know how shocking this is). It helped me to put into words some things that were a bit ambiguous before (especially how broad match negatives work). Here's the video I created in which I explain the match types and how they work. You may already know most of this, but it may shed some new light on the fundamentals that could help you improve performance in your accounts. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing - (Good Intent, Bad Execution)
Kind of a dramatic title, but I want you to be mindful. I got an email yesterday from someone whom I respect as an expert in the field (hence me being on their email list). The email was talking about how they got their first client. They used a technique similar to something I've used and it was a smart technique. There were enough differences that I believe their approach should be less efficient in that it would take more work, but require less time on the phone, which most want to avoid (myself included). The method was not the problem, though. The problem I had was the next part where he talked about getting one client and never having to do outreach again. All of the rest of the clients came from inbound leads. I can't even begin to tell you how atypical this is. There are millions of marketing agencies in the world that want this outcome and don't get it. I want to point out that this guy is not a bad guy. He's doing great work and helping a ton of people. I just think he didn't realize how damaging his story could be to new (and even seasoned) marketers. When reading his story, there were a lot of elements that would not be relevant to almost anyone else. His first PPC job was in one of the biggest marketing agencies in his country. He worked on accounts spending multiple millions of dollars (something rarely done by even seasoned PPC vets). His first freelance account paid enough to replace his day job. He got a client from sending 10 emails. None of these things is normal. I have a lot of people reaching out to me to ask how to get experience or to get a job with a marketing agency. Most of these people have never worked in a marketing agency or have only worked in one small agency for a brief time. Most do not have sales experience and have not studied the masters of sales and marketing to learn email marketing, cold calling techniques, web or landing page design, social strategy, or inbound strategies. Many have difficulty thinking of connections they may have within their network that either own a business or could introduce them to a business owner.

Free e-Book on Marketing & Growth Strategy (No Optin)
Hey all, I haven't posted in a bit, so I wanted to drop you some value! I wrote a book that I've been too distracted/unmotivated to publish (mostly because of the editing stage). I've shared it with a few people in the form of a Google Doc and wanted to share it with you so you can get a deeper understanding of my strategy framework. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RPih0jsL-yeA1K8jtG5XTdPMA8bXfMu8__ngb3Yc9JY/ Feel free to drop comments in this post with questions or thoughts about the info in this book and I'll answer everything to the best of my ability! All the best, -Ryan Founder, Ad Master Academy
