How to Grow a 2 Year Old Song with 1.3 Million Streams on Spotify
I was looking to get some advice on how I may be able to grow a song I made called "Lightly" Some backstory on the release: I released this song featuring a friend of mine "Lani Rose" and I did zero promo besides posting on my social media. I have a decent Spotify following and fanbase so I knew the song would pick up streams, but it ended up doing much better than I thought it would. The song was released independently and was featured in NBA 2k22 as well. I don't have any management or dedicated team behind me, it's just me. From the stream count and the consistency of plays and the NBA2k feature I know it's a strong record but I barely did anything/ didn't put any marketing momentum behind the record. The stream count per day has been slowly decreasing a bit and is now 800 plays per day on average, I notice it fluctuates and will spike back up for periods of time because of the Spotify algorithm. What could I do to take this 2 year old song and maximize it's full potential? Any advice would be much appreciated thank you! Also I'm new here so i'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link based on the onboarding videos I watched so if you want to listen search "Xan Griffin - Lightly" on Spotify.

@Larayne Larayne I'm on Instagram and Twitter, I don't use tiktok as a consumer but have posted some content there. I don't know exactly what would go into a creative campaign, would you be able to link a resource/ explain? I can go live, i've done interviews in the past but nothing recent. I've gotten good feedback on the record. I appreciate all of the advice 🙏

@Jean Paul If it could stay at 3.5k streams per day that would be great. I say that number because i've seen it do those numbers for a week at a time and then drop so If i could maintain that as baseline that would be ideal
New member with a question
Nice to meet you all, I think I waited 2-3 months until I finally got the approval email and I couldn't be more exited. I'm trynna get myself known as Gaseb, and have my first project almost done (only mix/masters left to do) and I was wondering if you guys could help me with a question that's been bugging me since I started planning the songs I'll record and the release order 6-7 months ago. So here goes: What would you guys consider a better strategy, releasing an EP all together and promoting a song from it each week (having promoted the first song on the EP before and on the release week); releasing each song as a single, once every two weeks, have pre-release promos and promoting each song the week it is about to drop, converting the songs into an EP when all of them are released. (I'm not sure how good promoting the released song and the following one within the same week would look.) Would love to hear what your thought are. P.S. Keep going, you're enough.

Yo! I released my first album with the waterfall strategy you are talking about and it worked very very well. My album was based on the zodiac signs and i released every zodiac sign on the day of the zodiac each month. If I had released them all at once it wouldn't have gotten the traction and attention it had gotten; I was able to keep peoples attention for a full year with that strategy and get millions of plays. I think waterfall release strategies work best when you are telling a story with the order of releases. Figure out when you drop the songs how you can drop them in an order and in a way that tells a story that will get people invested and excited for the full project. I would recommend you don't drop them all as singles. If it's a 7 track EP drop 4 as singles and then drop the other 3 on the actual EP. It makes the wait for the EP more exciting when you see there are songs you never heard on it, and people are more likely to play the whole thing all the way through especially if you are telling an interesting story with the rollout, sonics, and or lyrics. Hope this helps!

I think if you have a unique idea and you put the time in to make sure it's a dope concept and is executed well; It can be very important. If you just throw something together I don't think it matters as much. My first album I released I worked with one of the artists who designed cards for "Magic The Gathering" card game. It was expensive but he had his own fanbase and it enhanced the concept of the album. My album definitely wouldn't have done as well without him. To this day people who became fans from the album mention the artwork. If you want to reference what I am talking about go on YouTube and look up "Xan Griffin - Capricorn" to see one of the songs and artwork.
Finding Your Artist Name.. to change or not to change?
How did ya'll find/create your artist name? Also how do we feel about changing your Artist name after you have already established your current one? I be going back and forth about this all the time... the pros and the cons...

I just use my real name "Xan Griffin" I honestly think Shai Quinn is already a great artist name; it's unique and I just did a quick google search and checked on Spotify and no one is using it so it has great SEO potential. I used to go by xanwow and already had a few hundred thousand streams but when I got my first manager years ago he told me it sounded too much like shamwow and told me to use my real name haha so you can change your name in a lot of cases if you are smaller. If you can, you should keep your name in my opinion if you have already built a substantial fanbase. But if it benefits your brand or story then change your name. Hope this helps.
