To DRIP or not to DRIP that is the question.
I realize that we cannot time the stock market ebbs and flows but we can value a company within that market. In doing so, we have some idea when our wonderful company within our portfolio may become overvalued. So when it reaches that point and the stock company is ready to distribute a dividend, do you reinvest dividends or not? That is the question. Since, you already have a basket of stocks do you take the dividend and put it towards an undervalued stock in your portfolio? Do you reinvest the money into the same company regardless of its value? or do you take other actions with the dividend distribution. For me, I generally reinvest the dividend regardless of the company's stock value only because I do not have the time nor patience to watch my portfolio. So, for me its a 50/50 crap shoot of whether or not I'm getting the best value with DRIP. What does everyone else think about the DRIP?

@David L. I also hold a strong position in O. Do you hold/like any other REITs? One of my favorites is EPRT.

What is the biggest risk? Buying at a high and seeing it decline Selling at a low and missing out on the recovery Id vote the latter.
How Many Stocks is appropriate in a Portfolio
I currently have 20 stocks in my portfolio. None of which are BRKA or B. However, I remember the late great Charlie Munger state during their annual BRK meeting that "you only need one stock." That is of course if you bought it at below fair value and it has substantially risen over time between price and/or dividends. However, the problem I have is two-fold. One is that I do not like sitting on cash. I want my money working at all times. The second issues is that when I purchase a stock and it proceeds to run higher, I DO NOT purchase more shares. I typically wait a reasonable time to purchase that stock if it has a pullback or I go to the "market of stocks" and shop for bargains. I am just curious, how many stocks should you own in a portfolio?

@Paul R. My game plan for the last couple of years has been dollar cost average into ETFs weekly. Then when a dip occurs in the market or in one of the individual stocks I like, I buy more. My portfolio is about 60-65 percent ETFs depending I the day.

@Paul R. What sectors are you struggling to find a company you’re comfortable with?
Margin of Safety Book
Has anyone read the Margin of Safety book written by Seth Klarman? If so, do you believe the strategies outlined in the book can be further utilized to strengthen the screener previously used for the video of companies?

Consistently good returns with little downside risk. I do agree with the books idea of not being fully invested and having some capital on the side. This allows you to take advantage of dips/ crashes. Might also be a good idea for the market we arecurrently in with the added turbulence from the election.

@Dylan Smith I couldn’t agree more. 5-10 percent is exactly what I keep on the side.

I've been investing since 2019 and have turned my focus to dividend growth strategy.
