...get out of your own way when investing?
Covering the modern period for the S&P 500, investing only when a Republican was in the White House, a $10,000 initial investment in 1961 would have grown to more than $102,000 by 2023. On the other hand, the same $10,000 investment would have grown to $500,000, investing only when a Democrat was in the White House. The moral of the story is that the same $10,000 initially invested in 1961 would have grown to $5.1 million by just staying invested, without regard for the political party in power. How to Think About Risk with Howard Marks
When you finally manage to time it perfectly
Hi Guys, I guess we all dream of holding quality compounders for a long time and preferably picking them up at a fair price. BUT, what do you do when you finally manage to pick one up and it rushes up at rocket speed, to become what you regard overvalued? Example: I got lucky and picked up the medical device company Mettler toledo (MTD), when it briefly dipped in nov 2023, but the marked has since send it up almost 50 % . I currently regard it overvalued with near term growth prospects being challenged as well. SO, what to do? Take the money and run or wait it out, knowing it could be flat for 2-4 years an im even likely to see a few huge dips along the way? But also knowing it is a stable long term grower which will be here 10 - 20 years from now and have done its magic compounding trick. What do you do in these kind of situations?

Buying and holding. I already sold meta at 200+%, it continued for another 100 or whatever. So now im just keeping, I kept palantir, i kept netflix, at 300+%. I aint selling. Though, obviously there can be 100000 reasons you might have to. Need money, or if its in an account where you sell and there are no tax implications etc. Its very complex. But holding for very long time usually pays off the best. I just hate trimming in a tax account. Paying 10-37% is robbery in broad daylight. What we get back from govt for paying all those taxes is atrocious deal. Those who work w2, basically work for free monday and tuesday.
Margin of Safety Book
Has anyone read the Margin of Safety book written by Seth Klarman? If so, do you believe the strategies outlined in the book can be further utilized to strengthen the screener previously used for the video of companies?

@Timothy Sheehan Having 5-10% of the portfolio in cash is definitely a good approach. Even if it's paying 0% interest and inflation eating it, buying big dips, can produce insane returns, outweighing that so-called loss of inflation while in cash.
What stocks are currently of interest to you?
I don't have anything particularly tempting on my watchlist at the moment. Recently, I've made a few purchases, including Hershey Co. (HSY) at $191.39, Nike Inc. (NKE) at $73.12, and Robert Half International Inc. (RHI) at $68.56. Additionally, I regularly reinvest dividends into the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO). Right now, there's nothing I'm eager to buy.

Here are my GTC limit orders. I like to place them around major supports, as price action has tendency to sweep it, trigger stop losses of people, and then pump.

@Nathan Winklepleck I feel like when something is down 80%, the risk is minimal, and intel is still a legacy company. Probably will bounce back. Holding for a year, two or three, even if i don't buy a complete bottom, still going to produce market-beating results. So dca'ing and we will see what time will bring :)
