There’s a nice dividend investing group on Facebook if that’s something you like. It’s European based with but a fair amount of US based members also. Here’s the link if you care to check them out. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/FaKk1Vw9H3U69Smx/?mibextid=K35XfP

@Kyle H. I’m sure you’ll build something meaningful if you decide to pursue YouTube. As for me, I’ve got plenty on my plate with family but your words mean a lot. It’s been a pleasure getting to know you, and I wish you all the best with your adventures ahead. If you ever do start that YouTube channel, I’ll be cheering you on from here!
$1,200
Good morning, everyone! I am currently paying $1,200 per year to keep this community going. I don't mind paying that if it's valuable, but engagement has waned in recent weeks. (Including from myself!) Unless anyone has better ideas, I will plan to close the community over the next month. My wife and I are trying to save up to buy a "new" used car for our family to replace my 2011 Prius, so the savings will be nice. I will continue to post videos on YouTube, but my only other "community" will be on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nathanwinklepleck

Hi Nathan, I’ve really appreciated the effort you’ve put into this group, and I agree that the activity lately hasn’t been enough to justify the expense. It’s a tough call, but I support your decision if you choose to close it down. If it comes to that, I’d be happy to share a Facebook group that I’ve been enjoying with the other members as an alternative. Thanks again for all the work you’ve done to bring this community together! Dave
...get out of your own way when investing?
Covering the modern period for the S&P 500, investing only when a Republican was in the White House, a $10,000 initial investment in 1961 would have grown to more than $102,000 by 2023. On the other hand, the same $10,000 investment would have grown to $500,000, investing only when a Democrat was in the White House. The moral of the story is that the same $10,000 initially invested in 1961 would have grown to $5.1 million by just staying invested, without regard for the political party in power. @B Scipio very interesting!
SCHD announces a 3 for 1 stock split
Effective after markets close on October 10, 2024, this ETF will undergo a 3-for-1 share split. The ETF share split will apply to shareholders of record as of the close of markets on October 9, 2024, payable after the close of the markets on October 10, 2024. Shares will begin trading at their post-split price on October 11, 2024. Forward share splits increase the number of shares outstanding and decrease the Net Asset Value (NAV) per share. The share splits will not change the total value of a shareholder’s investment.

@Tony S I believe it’s a solid one. @Nathan Winklepleck what are your thoughts on SCHD?

@Kyle H. Nice!
NKE: Dip Buy or Dumpster Fire?
Trading for -50%+ off its 2021 high I'm curious about everyone's thoughts about the wide moat and profitable checkmark brand after it's cooled off from its 2020-2022 run.

@Kyle H. I appreciate your expertise in this area. Currently hold 1,700 shares of NKE with a cost basis of $73.12. I've set a 180-day stop quote price at $79.99 and a limit price at $79.49. While I plan to maintain this position long-term, your insightful comment on setting a stop-loss limit have provided me with additional confidence.

@Kyle H. I appreciate that suggestion. I enjoyed it when I was aggressively writing covered calls in my earlier investing days. However, for me personally I have found “buy and hold” a far less active strategy without the risk of being called away. Ultimately, “do nothing” investing is the best strategy for me. But I do think writing options are fun :-)
