10 contributions to Get Into Elite Careers
I was mean to someone in today's group call - here's why ⬇️
Getting into an elite career is hard. There simply is no room for error. If you have one mistake, you are giving a reason for rejection. How do I know this? I would reject candidates all the time for this. I saw someone's linkedin profile today who had a mispelling. I flagged this to him. He had an incredibly growth mindset however and took it well. This is the characteristic of someone who will excel and do well. Perfection sadly is the baseline. One typo, one formatting error, one spelling error is enough for rejection. Please focus on this in any application we send 💪

The level of detail needed is crazy 👍
What actual matters to get into an elite career?
Specificity. In each and every data point Is our CV highly clear on achievements? Is our cover letter on EXACTLY WHY we want to enter Goldman Sachs? Perhaps it's the Goldman Sachs University? In an interview are we giving clear star-3 examples? Specificity will lead you to success. How can we be specific in our applications going forward? Please write below 💪

I feel your application reflecting over time, a specific narrative on why that particular role is highly important
Application timings
Quick question for everyone, especially first year uni students looking at spring weeks. As many will recognise applications are opening/have opened for spring weeks and I have found myself wondering what the preference is for timing of application. As someone who definitely needs to build out their profile more and gain improved experiences and positions for their CV/Cover letter. Do people think an earlier yet weaker application or a later on but stronger application is more desireable? Keen to hear thoughts.

Spring Weeks
Hi all, I know Spring Weeks applications are coming fast/here and I am well aware of their importance. If I am realistic I believe my CV/Application is missing/lacking in qualifications, experience etc. Hence I am sceptical of my chances of securing a position this time round and probably need my first year of uni to further my profile. Could anyone shed some light on/detail the best strategy/process of still trying for IB without a first year Spring Week. Thanks in advance

CV tailoring
Just finished the IB course which I must highly recommend as I found it very useful and insightful. Hassan mentioned about tailoring CV's to certain sectors and industries which makes complete sense across differing industries such as corporate law and IB. Would there still need to be a degree of tailoring between s&t and m&a for spring weeks and what would examples of that consist of at such an early stage?
