Music Theory Workshop Follow-Up
Hello again, MMM folks! Thanks so much once again to those of you who were able to attend the first "Effortless Composition" workshop, and Alex/Meta Mind Music for hosting! It was so much fun to share the some applications of the Music Theory Tree system with you, answer your questions, and I hope to do it again soon! We've only scratched the surface. We got some great suggestions for future topics during the Q & A portion, and Alex and I are thinking we will set another MTT workshop to be held in August. If you were not able to make the first workshop, the second one will still be made accessible for those with all levels of music theory knowledge. I'd love to hear more of your feedback about the workshop. What did you find helpful? What would you like to see/hear more of? What was not touched on that you would appreciate some time in a workshop dedicated to exploring? Are there any points you'd like clarification on? If you haven't already, please get your FREE MTT Music Theory Exercises from Musictheorytree.com/free-download. I will be using examples of these exercises to explore numerous musical ideas in future content like videos and articles, primarily centered around composition/analysis/and performance. The overarching goal of MTT is to help people learn every note in every chord, in every key, how they connect, and, most importantly, how they can be used in compositions effectively. If you're a visual learner especially, I highly recommend getting the exercises and reaching out to me for help if you feel the need. By the way, unfortunately, the first workshop recording got corrupted somehow, so we don't have it to share with you, but we'll do our best to ensure that doesn't happen in the future. Be well, everyone! I can't wait to see and speak with you again!

@Levi Redlin that's a great idea! We were thinking maybe if someone had a composition they weren't totally satisfied with, they could present it, we could analyze it in real time using MTT, and see what changes might be on offer to improve it.
What music worlds do you orbit?
Heyo! I'd love to know what kind of music you make and what got you into it. I was always into a wide range of music. I remember loving the cute and catchy "Taxman" by the Beatles, knarly guitars of "Running With The Devil" by Van Halen and the weird sounds in Beck's "The Information" as a kid. I've been playing guitar for 15+ years. Started off learning song from Metallica, Van Halen, Deep Purple and immediately was interested in making my own songs & riffs. Fast forward - I went down the extreme metal rabbit hole in my teens and started learning stuff like Opeth and expanding my tastes to other bands like Radiohead and trippy electronic music like Shpongle I caught the "progressive" bug... that eventually led me to playing with the band I'm in now called Dizzy Mystics that's a weird mix of Incubus, Zappa, Yes and modern rock/metal flare. More recently I've discovered Ableton + Push as an instrument, chilled out, and like exploring psychedelic rock, jazz harmony, psydub sound design and weird organic samples. Feel free to drop a few Artists / Albums that really inspire you. I'm always happy for a new listen that might blow my mind. Here's 3 albums I'm spinning right now: - Cloak - Jordan Rakei - Deliverence - Culprate - Vision In Bloom - Spiral Drive

@Alexandre Joyal that's my favourite track from that album, too!
Great workshop Alex.
Just to say I enjoyed the live workshop on music theory. Lots of info to chew on. Great motivator to memorize away from instrument some core concepts. Good job Alex!

@Victor Luigi Oh, rats! I'm sorry to hear that. We did record the session, so you'll be able to review it. It won't be the last workshop I do in the community. I also invited anyone who wants to download my FREE MTT music theory exercises PDF at Musictheorytree.com/free-download and meet one-on-one over Zoom for a free lesson. If that interests you, let me know, and we'll arrange a time together.
