I feel great right now, just finished my YouTube video. But, last night and earlier today I felt quite anxious. I've always been a bit anxious before I record, though the reason why has changed overtime. That resistance whatever it is, is still something you need to push through (if you want a personal brand). In the beginning it was about my looks, how I talked, my background, cameras, lighting etc. Now it's because a lot of people see my videos and I want them to be very good. I want to help people. But either way I'm anxious, but I've learned to live with it. I must deal with it, if I want to full-fill my mission and vision. Which is to help build a world where everyone has the tools and resource to reach their maximum potential. Mission and vision does everything for me, it pushed me past any selfish insecurity or anxious feeling that keeps me from helping my tribe. At each step of your content creation journey you'll hit resistance, tap into something bigger that gives you no choice but to overcome. A little anxiety is nothing compared the feeling of letting your people DOWN. Anxiety < Guilt

A lot of us are afraid to make mistakes because of what people will say. Or even worse, what clients might say if we mess something up. What if a new course doesn't live up to the promise if we move too fast? What if we release it before it's ready? and people complain? What if they get mad? Well... hope they do. You see its quite normal for people to complain, get short with you. And this is your advantage, not a weakness. It normal for people to jump on your failure, point it out, rub your face in it (not all people but you know who I'm talking about ;) You know what's not normal? moving fast to remedy all those complaints, dropping version 2 a week later to fix everything, setting the bar higher. I call it the "sweep the legs" technique. Moving with speed undercuts everything. People remember you more for how you respond and how fast you bounce back. Why? because that is NOT normal. - Dropping a sub-par course, NORMAL. - Customer complaints, NORMAL - Bouncing back from mental stress, NOT NORMAL!! I hate seeing people complain, or get moody on me. I sulk for 30 seconds and then plan the next release. I just aim higher and surprise them. I sweep the legs out from underneath them. I've learned in business, if you keep people focused toward a better future, you're fine. You're better than fine, you're unstoppable.

Stick to the script and see it through. It's too early to see the results you wanted. Stay the course. You've got to commit to plan long enough to convince people to commit to you. Why would someone commit to you if you can't commit to yourself? See it through. (Now if you don't have a plan, thats another story and another post) But if you got one, stick to it!!! šŸ’Ŗ

Also, unrelated but you mentioned it a few days ago. Changed my PFP, because I thought me holding a glass of wine, looking at my daughterā€™s head was not it. But now when I look at the favicon side version of my pfp, I keep thinking Iā€™ve lost an entire boob out in the photo. And if I think that, surely others will think that too!
($100K+ in 30 days) Why Applied Experience Trumps Everything
If you follow the advice of a lot of Skool gurus, they will have you focus on: - Creating funnels - Testing headlines - Copy that converts - "No brainer" offers - A website - Cold email - Chat bots - YouTube - ...insert more tasks here - The list goes on and on. What don't they tell you? non of it matters without experience or audience insight. Only experience that is APPLIED to help your niche succeed will really move the needle. The bad news? Well experience takes time, you CAN'T skip this. No coach can give you a piece of advice to get around this. (that means maybe you won't be rich in 30 days) If you focus too much on that long list aboveā€”you'll never get the experience you need to really make an impact on people. You need to go deep on something. If you focus too much on that long list aboveā€”you'll get clients but then you will lose them. More time should be spent on gaining the experience to really help people. I could write a bunch of post and videos on how I did this in 30 days (and I have). But if I'm being honest my success is due to 35 years of working with technology. I've helped hundred of founders and businesses successfully use technology in their business. I was on the internet 5 years before most had heard of it. I was luck to have the internet in the early 90s. And long before that I used BBS's, where you'd call local computers and exchange information computer to computer. I'm not saying you need 35 years to crush it, but you do need that experience. And if you don't have broad experience, which takes a lot of time, you need NICHE experience that people care about, now. Even if you're just starting out, you can get the experience you need to make good money, but you will need to focus and go deep enough on a skill (that matters to people) that can make a difference. I do think its possible to launch a business very fast and gain the niche experience you need very quickly. BUT, to do that you will need a deep understanding of your audience, the problems, so you can focus just on the experience you need to move quickly.

Thank you šŸ™šŸ¼ I donā€™t know how your posts are always so well timed, bc Iā€™m I should seriously be asleep. But I was thinking today, in a moment of panic, as I sat in my office that I rented on Monday, because my home office set up was not conducive to productive outputā€¦ ā€œam I being crazy?ā€ I started to write out all the graduate and bulk recruitment projects Iā€™ve consulted or facilitated over the last ten + years, end to end. The massive cross section of federal and state government and non government agencies Iā€™ve worked with in their recruitment actions, and then also the individual people Iā€™ve independently helped over the course of months and years, pivot careers and/or accelerate career growth by helping them understand which options presented in work settings would move the needle forward faster. I am qualified to do this. People come to me all the time bc in real life, I provide value to them when we interact. People pay other people for these services. People would in theory pay me if they knew that I did this - the people that come to me do so because they meet me IRL or are referred by others that Iā€™ve helped, they talk to me, they feel confident in my understanding of the Australian job market and also how recruitment and HR works, and my ability to instil confidence in them that they do have valuable and transferable skills. And ofc many people have paid me and Iā€™ve managed to generate a lot of revenue without any marketing, working for government and other sectors as a recruitment consultant. But then the mental gymnastics of ā€œI donā€™t have any social media following to get the message out and demonstrate my authority in this space.ā€ It wasnā€™t necessary before now, all of my contracts were referral. Anyway Iā€™m rambling - as always, well timed post.

The Show Must Go On!
Today I had a lot of reservations about the quality of my most recent video, the thumbnail, everything. I felt sick to my stomach. But I hit publish anyway. I have very high standards for my work as I'm sure you do as well. But sometimes you have to push things out and keep going. Do better the next time. You get better at making videos by making a 100 videos. Not trying to perfect 1. And keep in mind, your audience is the final judge. So they may appreciate the work a lot more than you do. And if they aren't happy with it? well the best way to address that is in the next video. Not by holding back and never making progress. Hit that publish button!!

I have something on my wall in the office that I crudely wrote in permanent marker that ā€œGood enough > perfectionā€ to try and force myself to submit work when it was completed, rather than sit on it and make it late trying to perfect it.
