Nokia 3310
Hi all, So I'm only at the beginning of my Plasticity's journey. After the first free course about the Apple Watch - which was really cool - I just wanted to make something by myself to see where it could go. I tried to work on the legendary Nokia 3310 phone with the following references while saying to myself "this should be fairly easy !" (it's only a cubish shape, right?!). But for the moment it's the total opposite of an easy piece of plastic, haha. The body is actually all curvy, not even a total Z mirroring and I just can't achieve something even okay-ish (in my opinion). I've began to think that I still don't have the skills allowing me to do this for now cuz' it shouldn't be an impossible thing to do with Plasticity, right ? I tried several methods: going from a cube and extruding, then adding some bevels; going from 3 curves and Lofting them; … but there's always some twist where I find myself blocked. With some frustration I went to Blender and just began to create it this way, which is just easier in my case, haha. But this is not the goal here ! I just know it should be doable in Plasticity (I can't actually see why not..?), but is this something that would require XNurbs ? Or am I just missing something ? I'm of course not asking anybody to do it for me but maybe just giving me some hints on how to achieve this (I just do not like to abandon something when I'm confronted to some issues, haha)? Maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself and I should wait longer to achieve this challenge, I don't know. Sorry for the long post, thanks in advance to those who will read the post and many thanks if answering ! ^^ Have a great Sunday all.

@Eugene Huliakevich Haha, yeah I thought it was maybe just too soon.. But the shape didn't seem to be too crazy at first glance you know, compared to the apple Watch I mean ^^ But I'll go further into learning and come back to this later I guess ! Thanks for your insight.

@Nikita Kapustin In my opinion you're right. I've digged into Octane for a some weeks now, so I'm not saying I'm a pro (let's be honest, I'm far from it !) but Octane integration in Blender is just not quite there. It's been better since they launched the add-on version that can run with the last Blender version (before that we needed to use a specific Blender version just to use Octane, which was always a step back, sort of). But this specific point is still in Beta for non-licensed users, and it's not the version they advertise so far, you need to dig into their forums to actually find it. So far I'll not say that all I had are issues, but once again Cycles integration is just better: in Octane, not all lights do work correctly (not sure if it's a me problem, but I only have one or two that are actually working fine); when working for some time, Octane becomes more and more slowish on my computer and I just don't understand why. And I need to restart the OctaneServer & Blender if I want it to be "resolved". That's just two examples I experienced frequently. So for now I think I'll just stick to Cycles and add a color-grading step to my workflow. But I'll surely keep an eye on Octane of course.

👉Read all and let me know your thoughts I thought about creating our first Blender Course that covers the full rendering process of a product (eg. headphones). Professional and photo-realistic results with which you actually can/could earn money. My idea is to create a complete Beginner Introduction course, which will be a solid base for everyone coming into Blender or professional product rendering. So, all my following next courses will "build on top" of this Beginner Course. The outline would be something like: 🔹BONUS 00: Plasticity-Blender Export - Go over the process of how to bring a Plasticity model into Blender 🔹 01 - Beginner Introduction - Install - UI + Basics - Lighting Basics - Material Basics 🔹 02 - Main Project: Beats Studio Headphones 🔹 Render 1 (Image 1): Studio Lighting - Clean professional studio lighting, white background - Full process of materials, lighting, rendering, etc 🔹Render 2 (Image 2+3): Environment Render - Full professional environment Render - materials, light, scene setup, assets, etc. 🔹 03 - Rendering + post-production in Photoshop - Full process of how to make 3D renders really punchy and pop with post-editing 👉 Let me know your thoughts, ideas, if you like it, if you don't like it, what else you want etc. etc.

Would be cool if there was a little animation part if you think it's possible for you. Maybe talk about the workflow, how to set up scenes/cameras, .. for some short product animation ?
