It’s been evaluations week and it made me reflect on this whole agency and the caregivers I’ve had over the last 10 months. To date I’ve hired in total 115 caregivers since January, I currently have 49 actively working. Meaning I have a 42% success rate at hiring. You gotta do the numbers. It’s a volume game. Once you get them onboarded you’re not done. Check in on them, help them with onboarding, ask them how their first shift went, take the exceptional caregivers out for coffee or lunch to show your appreciation, give them bday shout outs, give them kudos when a client says they do well. Ask their availability and honor it. It is incredibly hard work but rewarding. I’m writing this reflection cuz I had the pleasure of a caregiver calling me and screaming at me for removing her from shifts and putting her ‘on call’ status after she had two back to back late clock ins (mind you it was actually three and I forgave one for trafffic-each were 20+ mins late) don’t let one bad apple ruin the bunch. I’ve conducted 30+ evals and every single caregiver said this was the healthiest, safest, most respectful environment they’ve ever worked in. They feel appreciated, respected and motivated to show up for us. Their only complaint??? More hours. 🥲 If I can only get more clients!!!!! 😭😭😭😭
