DaaS vs SaaS pricing approach
Off late there are many companies that position themselves as DaaS (Data as a service). Would the approach to pricing strategy be any different when compared to SaaS?

@Dan Balcauski Thanks for sharing this. This is very insightful
Cost based pricing
We are a metadata company. The below is regarding enterprise customers with a lot of future revenue potential for whom we follow custom pricing. (For SMBs, we follow a standard pricing with no customization) We follow a land and expand strategy by solving for the basic jobs (JTBD) with cost based pricing since a lot of competition exists and then get to value based pricing as we solve for other set of jobs where there is not much of competition The challenge we face is that there are many aspects that contribute to the cost of acquiring metadata (and hence arriving at cost based pricing). Calculation of the actual cost is possible - but a time taking endeavor. Cost plus pricing allows us to estimate the price floor and helps sales in negotiation. Is there a way to simplify arriving at the cost plus pricing when a lot of customization is needed? This becomes a bottle neck as we scale. Note: Though the most basic Job the customer is trying to solve for could be the same but the nature of data needed differs (for instance some customers need data for AAA games, some would need for AA, some for across the whole world, some just one country and so on)
