Recording weird things.
What's the weirdest thing you've ever recorded? I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours. Lol 🤣. Mine was flies buzzing around a dog turd. It was for background sound effects at a Halloween party.

I wanted to do some recording one day but a Jack hammer was running right outside my window. So I stuck a mic out the window and used that sound as a big part of the percussion sounds, including the part where he stopped and in it slowed down to a stop.
on the verge of hanging it up for awhile so any help would be a blessing..
the unthinkable has happened for the second time in my career. my project files became corrupted. All of them.. hundreds of songs, thousands of samples, and countless hours of work gone. So my drives files corrupted. The external drive still boots up but all the files within the drive are empty. Does anyone have any clue what's going on or a fix? This is the reason why I have no projects out as this happened before on my Mac (that whole computer died). I'm on windows now if that makes any difference when troubleshooting. I've also ran virus scans and what not but windows can't acess the drive due to it being in read only. Thanks in advance and if no use then idk man Update: Saturday I've gave one more hail mary attempt at restoring the files before sending the disk off to a tech. I've managed to restore a good portion from the disk through the Wondershare platform. Not all of it but a good 70ish % so no major complaints there! I'll still sent the disk to a tech at some point but for now I'll take this as a win. From here I'm working on setting up these backups and auto backup locations. Thanks again everyone for the suggestions 🫡🤘

As a graphic designer I was working on a magazine for a client and was two changes away from being finished, client was literally walking in the door and the drive failed. Using printouts I’d made for the client I spent the next 32 hours straight (no sleep) to have the magazine ready for printing

By the way the best backup system I have used is Dropbox (not my only backup) my working files and project files look bed in the Dropbox folder and backed up every few minutes. Even if I deleted files accidentally (which I hadn’t done in a long time) I could reinstate them from the Dropbox site for about a week.
How do you video recording yourself playing guitar?
I'd like to create digital music videos. I can screenshot my computer screen when recording guitar or vocals into a DAW but how do you get an external camera to focus on your hands in motion? How do you do it? How can I do this without spending thousands of dollars on a new iPhone, DSLR or Mirrorless Camera?

Hello fellow Zombies 🤣 My suggestion is use OBS which is a free program for recording and live streaming video. You can hook up multiple cameras and then do Picture In Picture layouts to show the various angles. As well you can easily have layouts to switch full screen views from each camera. There’s also a lot plug-in for using your phone as one camera, and you could get one or two webcams for other views. You can usually take sound right from your audio interface - although some may require a plugin to get it to play nicely with OBS. The other thing you’ll want is lots of light. The softer the light the better. Bouncing a bright light (or lights) off a white wall can work wonders. Of course you can buy fancy lights to make it look more dramatic, but if your budget is low keep it simple. One warning, GAS exists in making videos too. Soon you’ll look for better cameras and better lighting. 😜
Best Mac to buy right now for the Logic DAW
Came across this video discussing buying a M3 Mac vs The M1 or M2. Figured some of the new students may want to use Logic and perhaps decided to buy a Mac to do so. Please watch this video before you do. For those on Reaper or Cubase...never mind! (in the voice of Emily Litella) OK? OK! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR4NuNIU48o Peace & love... UB

I watched a video where a guy who does video editing said he has several M series Mac’s in his studio, but it’s an M1 MacBook Air he uses the most.

@Chris Pluto I use reaper a bit, I find it can really suck you into a time/space vortex trying to get it working the way you like. There is a Logic Pro style skin you can apply which helps. But the first time you go to comp a track you see why Logic is better. Reaper is great if you like having control over how it looks and feels, but if you just want to get tracks done Logic really is superior.
Strange vocal placement
About to give up. No matter how i record my vocal, straight to the interface, through my pre amp, nothing changes. Does a converter go bad? Or does that have anything to do with it. Vocal sounds like the phase is inverted. But even if I invert in or out, sounds the same. Any ideas?

Sounds absolutely fine on my speakers, some where quieter and the loudest sounded a bit hot for the circuit but otherwise no real problem. I do think straight in sounded better but maybe that's just me. Are you sure your speakers are in phase? 😜
