Introduction
Hi everyone! My name is Julian, and I'm a music producer based in Munich. I’ve been running my own studio for three years now, working with artists to bring their musical visions to life—technically, creatively, and most importantly, emotionally. I’m here less to debate the best plugin for a specific task and more to connect, explore creative approaches, and find ways to stay inspired. I’m passionate about the idea that a balanced, healthy life is key to thriving in the music industry—it’s the foundation for sustaining both creativity and passion over the long run. I’m looking forward to learning from all of you, sharing ideas, and connecting with like-minded creators. Excited to be here! Julian

Welcome🙌
Free VST and Sample Addiction
I have an issue where I spend WAY too much effort and time finding and downloading free effects, samples, and instruments. Way way way too much time. It's rather an "easy" fix by just downloading what I need as I go, but I struggle with the idea that I will miss out on the "perfect" effect, a "magical" sample, or the "perfectly matching" Instrument. Also, if I hear something in my head, searching for it kills the creative process.. I found I had this issue with mixing plugins, but as I built a solid arsenal, I no longer get lost in the weeds with them and no longer download every new one. This issue primarily revolves around production and sound design. So I ask, how much time do yall spend looking for effects for sound design, sounds and samples, and vst instruments?? Is dedicating hours on sourcing new sounds and instruments normal?? Or am I too obsessed? I spend more time sourcing than I do producing. Is this just how it goes? Any tips making this easier other than Splice?(not in my budget.) Any free alternatives to splice? Maybe the issue is that I source free rather than buying larger packs.. anyway, thanks guys👍

@Steven Casale yup periodically ill take mixing notes or write lyrics that come to mind if im doing a beat. sometimes i'll leave my voice memos open then hit record when I have an idea. But that stuff usually falls after im at least 50%-75% into the track the first 25% I'm just throwing ideas out and then going with the best one for the day bc I can't sit down and say " im making a ___ track" it just never works for me
Feedback??
Hi you, I spent quite a bit in the studio the last evenings, and arranged my new track, no name yet🤣. Would you like to give some feedback? https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/4htqu6t8a5kd5qkslz3e2/Downbeat_110bpm_10_VierringSound_v12_1_1-Kopie.mp3?rlkey=4ad6os2mfsstd64jzvemij9jz&st=kc9wsnuo&dl=0 No dedicated mixing done yet, lots of things are happening in the mids, I know. And low ends not professionally mixed yet. But I hope you get the idea. Any additional ideas? Would appreciate it a lot. 😀🎹 Thanks in advance... Musical regards, reinfriedB Like 0 0 comments

for what the track is I'm fine with the instrumentation also considering you know things need to be cleaned up it's hard to give additional feedback. I will say this though all the drums need some unmasking esp kick/snare. I think including filtering would be huge for this genre esp since there are many builds in this, utilize LPF's to really draw the listener in could even do washed-out transitions where there's less low end information with massive reverbs to act as a "suction" into the next section rather than relying on just the risers

@Phillip Patterson EXACTLY! Take previously used elements or upcoming elements -> wash them out in verb -> bounce to audio -> reverse the audio. Now there's cohesion and a push pull factor.
