Last Standing Flower It was getting dark as you can see. The sun was going down really fast but I didn’t want to miss any opportunity. We were on the way home from Redlands to Los Angeles (my wife and I). We didn’t take the usual and faster route but the scenic and longer one. We wanted to explore some more of California. Along one of the highways, I asked her to stop because I saw the sun rays through a chain of mountains, but by the time we could actually stop and get out of the car, the moment was gone. Instead, came another moment, with beautiful flowers backlit by the sun. The sunflowers had light on the them from most directions but I wanted to capture something unique. I got my camera settings to capture the light of the sun and left the flower mostly silhouetted This sunflower (literally) will forever remind of our lovely ride home after visiting friends and family in Redlands. What kind of flowers do you guys like?

The member that refers the most people to this community by the end of November will get $5000 cash price. To be eligible, you must: 1. Reach level 5. Ask me how if you don’t know. 2. Refer a minimum of 50 members starting today. 3. Referral = a new member who’s engaged in the community. To win, you have to have the most referrals. How do I know if you referred someone? When they join, they have to answer three questions and one of the questions is open. “who referred you?” So make sure they answer with your name. if you have more questions, please ask away. Thank you and good luck to everybody :-)

@Moshe Levis Thanks for the explanation! I was also a bit confused
Fellow Photographer, I'm Excited To Have You Here
Hi there and welcome to this community of landscape photographers. It's time I created a community that is much more than a Facebook group. Here you'll get to make new friends, learn a few things and teach a few things if you want. Why a dedicated community? Because the groups and pages really suck. I feel like I never found the perfect group to join because everyone just share their photos on go about their days. You know, pretty selfish, which is understandable to a degree. Here you'll be able to share your photos but you're going to have to be active with other members in the community. I'm goin to track who's just posting and leaving and those members will get kicked out. Sorry for the bluntness. Please introduce yourself. You can follow the points below: 1. Name 2. Curent location 3. Favorite photos to capture 4. Three images (choose wisely) Also, what camera do you own (just for fun)?

@Moshe Levis I really like to look for natural lighting and I look for interesting shadows. I like to observe colour contrasts and bugs as my main subjects. I don't really have any filters or neither do I edit very much in photoshop. But I am aiming to increase my skills in the post editing process. I joined because I am hoping to be inspired from this lovely photography group for ideas and to see how other photographers process looks like to help me improve my photos. I am not a professional photographer, but I really like bringing my camera along to places I visit for travelling or even around the corner in my garden.

Photos of the Day #1 - 9/5/24
Hi everyone let's start sharing one photo every day here in the community. Doing so can help us all: 1. Improve in making daily choices of what pictures to share. 2. Improve telling their stories. 3. Help us all climb up the levels. 1 - Select a picture and attach it in your comment 2 - Write the story about the selected picture If you like a picture someone else shared, please add a comment to it. And I guess I'll start to get this thing going. Photo Title: "Rejuvenation" The Story: The hike back from the inside of the sand dunes field is always the toughest. Arriving at Mesquite Sand Dunes for the first time was definitely a memorable adventure, especially since we didn't know we'll see such field before we get to Death Valley National Park. We parked the car in Mesquite Sand Dunes parking lot, grabbed my camera gear and head out into the sands. We had so much fun running up and down the dunes finding all kinds of interesting compositions of abstract scenery. The running up and down was pretty tiring since some of the dunes were very tall. It first glance you think to yourself, "this should be easy", but half way up you're already breathless. After a couple hours of excitement, with sand up our ears, it was time to get back to the car and continue our journey. That's when I captured this image. A simple, quiet and beautiful dune snaking out from where I stood to the outskirts of Mesquite Sand Dunes. The dune was scarred by a few people who walked on it earlier but I knew the scars will disappear soon because the wind started blowing and most of the tourists and photographers were on their way out of the field. It was time for Mother Nature for rejuvenation. That was the last photograph I captured that day. The way back was very tiring after climbing up and down trying to satisfy our curiosity to see what's around the corner. Now, all we wanted was to get to the car and head out, so all we did was hike back. It was a constant walk from the deep of the field, across some very tall sand dunes, and rest was not an option.

I was visiting some friends in the countryside in rural Canada. We received a surprise visit of the northern lights when they were very visible to many people in North America and Europe. It was an unreal experience to watch the lights dance in the skies. The barn is also a traditional wood bank barn from Ontario. There are less and less of these barns because many are not maintained and bulldozed down.
