Another tidbit from that TikTok Event: If you get a violation and you think it was in error, contact the product’s store to request assistance. They can contact the TikTok representative that handles their store (who can pull more strings). Just be sure you include proof/explanation of why it was in error. It can’t just be ‘because’.

My biggest takeaways from the event was in regards to violations: • Regarding health/wellness products, You do NOT have to verbally say your disclaimer (if you don’t want to). Simply adding it as on screen text is sufficient. Example: Results may vary. This is not intended to treat or diagnose. Or Check with your doctor. Results may vary. This is my personal experience with this product. • The easiest way to avoid violations is to keep it ‘general’ when talking about health products, such as talking about a ‘healthy lifestyle’. There were A LOT of numbers the TikTok staff provided to us (death by PowerPoint) and the presentations all basically conveyed that Tiktok Shop will get much busier for the holiday shopping season, specifically in early November… big surprise.

In a follow up video of his, he says works it for roughly $0.02 per follower, or $100 to reach 5k followers. I can’t confirm but it seems like this is a legitimate way to get into the shop program and wouldn’t violate TikTok’s terms of service. You’d still want to be creating shoppable content to demonstrate your ability to sell. I suspect in a case like this where you could theoretically reach 5k followers in only a couple days, TikTok might scrutinize your account a bit more before they accept you into the program. For this reason, that shoppable content would be crucial. If anyone tries this, please post about it. I’m thinking of doing it myself as a case study but also as another backup account.

Just read a story about a woman who was contacted by someone claiming they can help her get more followers for a small price. She then handed over her TikTok account login info, and paid the requested fee. Sure enough, they changed her account’s password and now are demanding she pay more to get her account back. It might seem obvious to some but NEVER give out your account password. It’s a scam, guaranteed.
