What side of CFD are you on?
So, I really wanted to open a discussion regarding an application of CFD in the industry but before that I thought it would be important to get a better idea about the community.. So my question is: what are you mainly experienced/interested in regarding CFD? Are you on the code / theory/ software development side? or you are on the practical application of CFD using commercial CFD softwares where you are not much aware about what is happening at the back-end? And do you think that one can have a mix of both? or no. And now I am more curious because personally I had experience with commercial softwares only and never really got to understand the programming part. Really looking to hear your thoughts.

@Muhammed Magid I agree with you actually, what I am saying is that even if you understand the numerics, sometimes your main job is not code development but rather making design decisions based on CFD results from specialized softwares.

@Luis Felipe Gomes I also think the same yeah
Hello
Hi everyone, I am a Mechanical Engineering master's student working on my thesis "Mixing and combustion efficiency in scramjet engine". Work is on high-speed flow with combustion. I am using a density-based solver in ANSYS Fluent for running simulations. I also started learning Open Foam.

Hello everyone. I am a Mechanical Engineer with a Masters in Environmental and Renewable Energy Engineering. I am working in the MEP design for the construction industry in Dubai. My passion for CFD started from my last year at my Bachelors degree, then moved on to my masters where i worked on simulating the microclimate for an area in Jordan using Ansys FLUENT. When I first started working in the consultancy field, I had the chance to perform building-related CFD studies but now i been away from CFD for a while and I am really looking forward to go back and build a nice portfolio that could get me a career in the field. looking forward to meeting everyone else here

@Deleted thank you
Guess the flow ๐ŸŒŠ
My wife and I were hiking today and we stopped by this cute stream/watercourse. Angela thought itโ€™s a nice idea if I post it to reflect on the flow physics with you all ๐Ÿ˜Œ (remember what we said this morning in the virtual coffee? making the community as fun as it is informative). Alright, feel free to share what comes to your mind when you watch this ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ [let me know if you like that type of content or you think itโ€™s irrelevant]

I think its a free surface flow with energy dissipation happening at the "dam" part like a wave-breaker at the beach. however i have no experience with free surface flows, but i think it could be a type of multiphase flow (water and air) and regarding the energy dissipation i am not sure how to model this phenomenon in CFD, it could be related to porous media model
