How to post an article on LinkedIn - Difference between articles and posts on Linkedin
The Complete Guide to LinkedIn Articles vs Posts: Making the Most of Both Formats in 2024 As LinkedIn continues to evolve as a premier platform for professional content, understanding the distinction between posts and articles has become crucial for maximizing your impact. In this comprehensive guide, I'll break down everything you need to know about both formats and how to use them strategically. Understanding the Basic Differences Posts - Appear directly in the LinkedIn feed (linkedin.com/feed) - Created by clicking "Start a post" on your homepage - Limited character count - Ideal for quick updates and engagement - More likely to get immediate network exposure Articles - Located at linkedin.com/article/new - Support up to 40,000 words - Include rich media capabilities (links, YouTube videos, images) - Appear on your profile under the "Articles" section - Excel at ranking in Google search results The Strategic Value of LinkedIn Articles While posts typically receive more immediate visibility, articles offer unique advantages that shouldn't be overlooked: 1. Superior SEO Performance Articles often achieve prominent Google rankings, sometimes reaching the first page within 24 hours of publication. This is due to LinkedIn's high domain authority and the platform's strong SEO infrastructure. Unlike posts, which rarely appear in search results, articles can drive consistent organic traffic to your profile. 2. Deeper Engagement When someone spends 5-10 minutes reading your article, they're investing significant time in your content. This deeper engagement often leads to stronger relationship building than the brief interactions typical with posts. As I often say, 100 people reading an in-depth article can be more valuable than 1,000 people quickly scanning a post. 3. Content Pillar Strategy Articles serve as excellent content pillars that can fuel multiple posts. One well-written article can be broken down into several posts, with each post linking back to the full article in the comments.

This is great information. I can understand the logic of creating articles in addition to posts. What frequency would you suggest to support thought leadership? Once a month?
Do You Use Podcasts to increase your reach, awareness and credibility?
I have done a few podcasts in the past with mixed results, so I had paused my participation. I recently decided to add them to my bag of tricks. Here is a company post link to the most recent one where I was a guest: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7275225160138338305/?actorCompanyId=103494619 What are you feelings on the use of Podcasts for marketing and lead gen? I would love to hear what everyone thinks.

@Ray Estevez yes we do podcasting and have gotten pretty knowledgeable in that space. I have attended PodFest in Orlando and have done a high ticket mastermind to learn the craft. HOWEVER, for some reason, LinkedIn does NOT play nice with promoting any mention of it. I clicked on the link above and i'm sure you would feel frustrated after all the work that went into producing and promoting that episode to get 3 likes, including mine. I dont understand why it is like that because a podcast is a very targeted communication tool for a business audience and in no way competes with LI audience. Anyways, I feel your pain. It's still a great channel though just dont expect any help from LI to promote it.
Anyone noticing decreased impressions with scheduled posts?
I totally get if it's just me not posting what Linkedin wants to see - but my last two scheduled posts, which I took a lot of time prepping text and images for appear to be getting SUPER LOW visibility. Anyone else seeing this?

I have found my impressions so much harder to work for than ever before. When my connections grew beyond 10k it dropped by a factor of 10. The good news is that now with a little help from evyAI, engagement is building. But I sure do have to reach out and make a lot of comments and interactions to earn it. As far as scheduled posts, I avoid because I find I need to prime my posts with my own likes and comments to get the engagement started. If I schedule and no one likes or comments in first 5-10 mins that post might as well get deleted its doomed. On the other hand, once it starts to take off, it really seems to 'earn' more and more impressions.
