I’m Harlan and at age 61 I find myself needing to work on my joints and flexibility. I’m now on Federal Disability due to my work related injuries. I’ve had orthotopic surgeries on both knees and been told knee replacements are the next step. The surgeon recommended I wait till I’m 65 since I’ve heard there’s not a lot of revision work out there. Since I’ve been back to pumping iron I’ve managed to reduce the swelling in my knees and regain some leg strength. I’ve worked out on and off since high school (long time ago) when I was on the water polo team and a water safety instructor (aka lifeguard). My motos have been “no pain/ no gain” and “whatever doesn’t kill me makes me stronger” but I’m not a daredevil. Additionally non-work related I have a 50% year in my super spinatos tendon on my left side and have torn off my right bicep muscle from the elbow. All this has started me looking into flexibility and joint work. I’ve modified my training regime to be more lower weight isolating exercises working both directions of each exercise. The positive and the negative. Anyway I now find myself exploring the world of stretching which for an old school exerciser as me is new and strange. I hope to learn more here that will help me in this journey.
