How I Made $30k in 1 Month From Art Sales and How You Can Too
Hey artists! 🌟 I want to share a story with you that I hope will light a fire in you and remind you that anything is possible when you set your mind to it. A while back, I made $30,000 in art sales within a single month, and this is how it happened. My goal wasn’t just a hope; it was a decision. I didn’t just think about it or wish for it, I committed to it. Here's the truth: many artists set goals, but they don’t fully commit. They set a number, then second-guess it, tweak it, or lower it. But if you’re truly serious about hitting a goal, you’ve got to decide on it and commit without a doubt. And here’s a key part: set a goal you believe in. If you don’t believe in it, why would you go all-in? For me, my goal was to make $40,000 in two months. Setting it over two months felt more achievable than one month, and it was a number I could believe in without feeling discouraged if I didn’t hit it immediately. Once I decided, I did three key things: 1. Commit to the goal with total belief. I was part of a mastermind group at the time, which helped boost my belief even more. When I shared my goal on a group Zoom call, I expected people to question it. But nobody did! That moment made me realize, “This is possible.” Speaking your goal out loud to others can be a powerful commitment tool. 3. Write down your “why” and visualize the feeling of achieving it. I wrote down why I wanted this goal and how I’d feel once I achieved it. I wrote it as if it had already happened. This fueled my motivation every day. 2. Create a massive action plan. I planned to go beyond the minimum, doubling the efforts I thought I’d need. If I needed 20 calls to hit my goal, I planned for 40. If I planned for one show, I thought about setting up two. This “massive action” boosted my confidence even more. Funny thing? I didn’t even end up doing all the steps in my plan! My belief was so strong that I was vibrating at a high frequency, fully aligned with my goal, and the sales came in, two paintings, $30,000.- in the first month.

@Gaia Orion I’ve used Vivia Print. They are locally based here in LA. Where are you located? I am also going to test out Lumaprints. They are based in Orange County. I am going to do a test soon with Luna prints. I love their canvas prints. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Day 4 - 30 Day Challenge "Sell More Art!" 🎨
Day 4: Understand Your Audience Now that you’ve defined your why and artistic voice, it’s time to focus on who’s listening, your audience. Understanding your audience is key to creating a connection between your art and potential buyers. Today's focus: We’ll be identifying who your ideal audience is and where to find them. Knowing your audience allows you to tailor your messaging, build a stronger relationship with them, and ultimately sell more art. Questions to guide your reflection: 1. Who are the people most drawn to your art? (Think about age, gender, profession, interests, etc.) 2. What problems, desires, or emotions does your art speak to in your audience? 3. Where does your audience spend their time online or offline? (Consider social media platforms, offline or online communities, facebook groups, local events, etc.) 4. How do your audience’s values align with the themes in your work? Action Step: Spend 10-15 minutes writing down your thoughts on these questions. Afterward, research where you can connect with this audience, whether it's online platforms, local art shows, or specific communities. When you speak directly to the people who resonate with your work, they’re more likely to become buyers. Once you're done, share your insights in the comments below! 👇

Day 3 - 30 Day Challenge "Sell More Art!" 🎨
Day 3: Define Your Artistic Voice (We make now a separate post everyday otherwise it gets a bit messy) Now that you’ve explored your "why" behind creating art, it's time to clarify what makes your work unique. Your artistic voice is the distinct way you express yourself through your art, and it sets you apart in a crowded marketplace. Today's focus: We’ll be working on identifying your unique style and voice, so you can confidently communicate it to your audience. Questions to guide your reflection: 1. What recurring themes or subjects do you notice in your art? 2. How would you describe your style (e.g., abstract, realistic, surreal)? 3. What colors, textures, or mediums do you find yourself drawn to the most? 4. How does your personal life, culture, or experiences influence your work? 5. What do people say about your art? (Ask others or reflect on past feedback.) 6. If your art had a “voice,” how would it speak to someone? What story does it tell? Action Step: Spend 15 minutes reflecting on these questions and write down your thoughts. Don’t worry about being too specific—just capture the essence of your artistic style. This is about finding clarity, not perfection. Why this matters: Understanding your artistic voice allows you to communicate more effectively with your audience. It also makes it easier for potential buyers to connect with your work on a deeper level. People don't just buy art; they buy the story behind the art! Once you're done share with us your answers in the comments below 👇

1. What recurring themes or subjects do you notice in your art? Portraits of 90s and early 00s music artists. Black women celebrating different hairstyles. 1. How would you describe your style (e.g., abstract, realistic, surreal)? Realistic 2. What colors, textures, or mediums do you find yourself drawn to the most? Acrylic and oil on canvas. Or spray paint for murals.  3. How does your personal life, culture, or experiences influence your work? I grew listening to a lot of 90s and early 00s hip hop and r&b and I love painting people of that time. I also am growing out my hair so I want to celebrate the beauty of Afro textured hair.  4. What do people say about your art? (Ask others or reflect on past feedback.) they say it’s amazing. I capture the essence of the person I paint.  5. If your art had a “voice,” how would it speak to someone? What story does it tell? My art tells the story of a black millennial remembering her roots.

Start: 9/6/2024 1. 3-4 original paintings and over 10 prints 2. $7,000 or more 3. I am giving up aimlessly scrolling on social media. I am going to push through my fear of posting my art and post my art on social media more often.

Day 2: My why? My parents met in art class in college and encouraged me to always explore art. I love the feeling art would create in me. I am able to express myself without using words. Art to me is always about the feeling it creates in the viewer and the creator. The feelings do not have to match but I want my art to connect to people.
