Exploiting The Vocal Break
I'm not sure if this is allowed here, to ask a question about a vocal technique another vocal coach is using, but my intent isn't to promote another coach; it's to inquire about a specific technique and this just happens to be a very prominent example of the technique, as this coach uses it for every scream he ever does as well as almost any time he wants to sing with very heavy grit. Since an RSS YouTube short was uploaded today that references creating grit by exploiting the vocal break, it seemed like a good time to ask about this. Perhaps other members of this community are also curious about this subject. At 2:46, this vocal coach starts exploiting his vocal break to create ultra-heavy grit. He continues it for 8 seconds straight, screaming a variety of notes in that time period. Since it does sound so brutal, I'm curious: Is this what you would call "pushing"? Is it what he's doing here safe? Is there any other technique he could have used to bring about this particular sound that your hear between 2:46 and 2:54 in this video or is exploiting the vocal break the only technique that would yield this particular sound? He's good at disguising the actual sound of the break, but it's easy to hear it right on the last note of this song and that vocal break technique is what he used for all the heavy distortion in this performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI989vd5xFI

Well, why not: This is the video to the latest single of my band flat daisy. It was our first studio recording after almost 20 years and is part of 4-Track-EP. The next one is about to be recorded in november.

Thanks! Yes, both bands are definetly influences on our writing as they are two of my favourites, especially when it comes to vocals. But as most people dont know these bands here in Germany we hardly ever get compared to them, so its nice to hear that feedback :)

@Russell Spear Yeah, Chris's courses are always kind of disappointing. But Andy Cizek is an awesome screamer and I really hoped that he might give proper insight in how he is doing it. Toni Linke isnt associated with CVT, he's using some of there terms though. If you havent heard him perform yet, check his channel, he is amazing in pretty much everything and at the same time very humble. From extreme screaming in the style of Will Ramos over covering Queen and other great singers to even Opera he sounds awesome and is able to explain everything he does. With Ken Tamplin I just cant watch him. He is so in love with himself I cannot bear that and he never ever teaches anything in his videos, just wants people to buy his course. I always appreciate when people offer real help, so I'm happy to keep exploring RSS more.

@Draven Grey Thank you, I will try that! And I would gladly get back to you about more resources. A discount on your course would of course also be appreciated a lot :) But I'll give the approach you mentioned a try first! Thanks again for all the help!
The Three Concerts You Wish You Could Have Attended
This is just something that everybody should be able to have a little fun with and it will give other members a little more insight into your musical taste. It's very simple. Just list the band and the year of the tour or the album the band was touring on. For me it is: 1. Fleetwood Mac 1977 Rumours Tour - seeing Stevie Nicks at her peak and seeing the whole band tour on one of the best selling, most iconic rock albums of all time would have been incredible! 2 W.A.S.P. - I would guess it would probably have either been for The Last Command Tour - 1985 or for The Crimson Idol Tour - 1992 3 Led Zeppelin - Houses Of The Holy Tour

Queen, which I unfortunately became a fan of right after Freddie died. Nirvana for which I already had the ticket, and then we all know what happened. And last but not least Fair to Midland, where I'm still hoping for a reunion, although it's probably never gonna happen, but I'd pay almost everything to get to see them live.

@Draven Grey That would have been my dreamtour. At least I managed to watch DLC live two times in a small club here in Germany. One concert was awesome, the other one had the worst sound I ever experienced :D Wonder if DLC still exist though as there has been no sign of life for years now.
