Hospitalization Experience
IDW - Coaches I had surgery and I have begun my recovery. I did stay one night and was given a menu for 3 meals. On the menu was 3 soda choices, diet and regular. Many juice offerings which included Apple Juice. Cookies and cakes which clearly specified sugar/sugar free. (We all know what artificial sweetners are in sugar free sweets.) I think you get the message. In short, the options given were full of sugar/artifical sweetners. I have to admit choosing meals was a challenge. I did find one or two choices that were considered somewhat healthy. Cathy shared about food changes in the school system. I think our hospital menus offered to patients is another area of concern. I feel this way because of my experience. Certainly "food" for thought!! I wanted to share. I am going to be in recovery for the upcoming year?? I will continue to share when I can. Encouraging the healthy lifestyle!!

USDA to limit added sugars in school meals nationwide for first time ever
Have you heard? The Department of Agriculture announced they are overhauling the nation’s nutrition standards! The New York Daily News reported that as part of the agency’s nutrition makeover, added sugars — sugars and syrups added to foods or beverages when processed or prepared — will be limited for the first time in school meals across the U.S. Read the U.S. Department of Agriculture press release for more information.

That is a milestone. I knew there was some change beginning to happen when my girlfriends son had too much sugar she told me they were monitoring it. It is great that they are aware now of the negative effects of sugar in school meals. Briefly, this will make our kids healthier and result in fewer types illnesses that could appear during their various stages of development. Times are changing!! Thanks for sharing.
Healthy Lifestyle - Lucy Di Piazza
Hi everyone: Both my husband & I follow the program. I have been on the program for almost 3+ years. I am currently active in the writing community, and I belong to numerous writing groups and organizations. I published two books along with articles in various publications. I have struggled with weight issues for 20 years. As most, I tried everything with little success. My goal is to continue following the S.A.A.B recommendations. My knowledge of nutrition continues to evolve and grow.
