SarahTrades
… Sarah(learning about)Trades is more apt. I currently work full-time in healthcare. After 25 years in the field, I’m ready to move on. As a single mother of 2 teens (age 18 and 16), time and money are short, but life is short! I turn 50 next month - what better time to change the focus from taking care of everyone else, to following my own interests? Investment is a fascinating, new world for me. Fortunately, I happened upon the Day Trading for Beginners Podcast for a primer in trading. I like the realistic, practical approach and easy-to-digest lessons. Keep them coming, and thanks to all for sharing your progress!

Welcome to the group Sarah! There are a lot of like-minded folks here that want to replace their current occupation and pursue something better (me being one of them!).
New Trader
Hi All! My name is Patrick and I am excited to start my journey in day trading. I have dabbled in the stock market since 2007 but didn’t really get anywhere and like most people threw in the towel. I have some capital now to play with and want to eventually retire early from my career and just do day trading to keep a sustainable income. I’m excited to start this journey once again but doing it properly. Looking forward to learning and discussions with you all!

Welcome Patrick! I too am looking to escape the corporate grind and be a full-time trader, so happy to hear others with similar goals. Enjoy the journey!

Welcome Jermaine!
Trendlines & Support/Resistance FTW
I wanted to share a trade I did today where I gratuitously drew the trendlines and support/resistance lines as the trade played out. The stock was MU and I took a short position on it because a) the market was down b) the stock's D1 chart was very weak c) the stock was well below VWAP (all hard rules I have in my developing trading strategy) I thought it was interesting watching how the price action nicely respected those lines as the trade played out. It gave me a lot of confidence knowing where the price was going next, where to watch for breaks and when to scale up my position size off rebounds of resistance. Lemme know your thoughts!

@Tyler Stokes I have a SPY overlay on my charts as a magenta line. It really helps when trying to identify relative strength and weakness. You can see in the attached image that when SPY is going lower, the stock is holding steady (an indicator of relative strength), then when SPY finds support and starts going back up, the stock rockets with some nice bullish price action.I managed to capture a good portion of this price action today. As for your question about MU, I first heard about it from a live stream of the 1Option folks saying to keep an eye on MU for a good short. After that, I started to notice it pop up on some scanners of mine as being really weak, so I waited for a good setup.

This Last Week
What did everyone, that includes you, do this last week to help you move forward towards your trading goals? By the way, are your trading goals an idea you have in your mind or something you can look at and say, "I've made the ball in the goal" (a soccer/football analogy depending on what part of the world you're from)?" Have you written them down and have you drawn a road map to help you get there?

I've been reading the wiki and Technical Analysis of the Financial markets. I've been making an effort to trade every day and be very patient and choosy about trades. I record all my trades in a journal at the end of the day. One silly thing that I've been doing that has made a bunch of difference: don't trade anything for the first 30 minutes of the day. It's too volatile and has led me to have straight green days since doing that.
