Filling walls with solid fill
After watching a tutorial on architectural drawings in trace, I followed the instructions on creating walls, then in a new layer, trying to apply smart fill. Not sure why, no matter where I set the slider on tolerance, the whole screen fills. Seems to not recognize the wall lines on the New layer? I was told that if the new layer is yellow, as in selected, the smart fill wont recognize the wall lines in another. Layer? If this is true how do I accomplish filling in walls on a separate layer?

@Phil Vanderloo The only way to make a layer active is by double tapping on it!

I think what's confusing is using the phrase, "turning a layer yellow" because this could mean two different things: 1. Setting an active layer which turns the layer preview box yellow. 2. Changing the background color of a drawing layer to yellow
Elevation Study
Another fun experiment to keep on learning more tools and their interactions. This one is roughly 30% Morpholio and 70% Procreate. Finished product and initial, rambling, sketch.

Hey Michael - if you have any projects that are 100% Trace, please share! We'd love to review them for our "Top Sketches of the Month" list

Greetings! I’ve been playing around with the design on this one, and the effects for the background and context. Let me know what you think!

Naming Layers in Morpholio Trace: It’s Finally Here!
I just found out you can expand the layer palette with this little arrow, so it’s super easy to rename and organize your layers now—something I’ve been wanting forever. I also heard there’s a big update coming later this year that’ll let you group layers into folders (like in Procreate), among other things, like a big revamp to adding text. Ask @Joey Swerdlin (director at Morpholio) if you are curious.

Blowing our cover @Henry Gao !! :) Hope you all enjoy this one. To expand on Henry’s teaser, we have a HUGE update for text layers coming where you’ll be able to add and edit the format of multiple text boxes in a single layer. This will work on the same system we designed with Dimensions so stay tuned for that in the coming weeks!

@Phil Byers awesome to hear - that's the goal!
3D Room
Hi Henry … is it possible to “accurately” dimension a room using the 3D Room visualizer in MT? Can you only scale and measure in the plan view?

@Lori Dyer @Henry Gao Hey! Just saw this note. Great question. The tech behind RoomPlan is powered by Apple. They recommend using this to scan spaces less than 30’ for the best accuracy. As Henry mentioned, this is accurate within a few inches. For spaces, larger than that, the fidelity is off a bit more. We recommend using it for initial roughly accurate drawings or for using as a base to record measurements taken on site. One note is that the model is automatically scaled by Trace so when you set a view in “Ortho” mode, your ruler will be scaled correctly without having the set the scale yourself. Lmk if you have any other questions!

@Lori Dyer All views using Ortho mode are auto-scaled and accurate - elevation views included.
