You work hard on the court, track or field. Practices, Lessons, Games, Strength training. You know what else might be holding you back? Not treating the other hours of the day with the same respect you do your sport. -Academics -Sleep/Recovery -Nutrition -Stress Management Yes, you'll have days where something on this list takes a backseat but if you don't have ANY routine and system to tackle the minimum in these areas on a consistent basis, you won't ever be able to tackle them at a higher level.
