About Page Write Up - Absolutely IMPORTANT!
When we first started our community, we were so excited that we quickly slapped together our "About" page. It was packed with emojis, glitter, and all kinds of unnecessary fluff. We thought it was fun and engaging—until a good friend of ours roasted it. He didn’t hold back either. "What even is this?" he said, after reading it. "It’s all about you, but you’re not telling people what they want to hear. They don’t care about you; they care about how you can help them." And he was absolutely right. We were so focused on talking about ourselves that we forgot the most important part: What’s in it for them? How would our community benefit those who joined? That’s the most important question an About page should answer. Our friend made us realize that we needed to ditch the fluff and get straight to the point. Those 1,000 characters? They’re the lifeblood of your first impression. Here’s why this matters: your About page is the gateway to your community. It’s the first thing people see, and it’s where they decide whether they’ll stick around or leave. In a few short lines, you need to: Clearly state what your community offers. You have to tell them exactly how you can help them solve their problem or achieve their goal. Show why you’re different. You need to stand out from the sea of other communities by showing how your content, approach, or insights are unique. Focus on value, not fluff. Don’t waste space on unnecessary details. Your audience doesn’t care about your life story—they care about how you’re going to help them grow or succeed. Communicate benefits, not features. Instead of saying, "We have weekly calls," tell them, "You’ll get weekly calls to keep you accountable and ensure real progress." Make it personal. Yes, people are looking for value, but they also want to know who they’ll be learning from. Show your personality, but make sure it’s relevant to how you’ll help them. Getting your About page right is the single most important factor for your community's growth. It’s not just an intro; it’s the pitch that hooks people in and makes them feel they’re in the right place.

Key to Member Retention: Keep It Short, Sweet, and Relevant
Member retention is crucial for any community, but here’s the key: you’ll only keep members if you consistently provide real value and insights in your niche. One of the quickest ways to lose them? Pestering. Now, let me explain what I mean by 'pestering.' I recently joined a community to check out their courses, eager to learn. But once I started watching, I noticed two major problems: they kept going off on tangents that had nothing to do with what I was there for, and they repeated the same points about a billion times. I mean, how many different ways can you say the same thing? It made me not WANT to continue. Here’s the truth: you don’t need a 60-minute video or a 100-page course to deliver value. Sometimes, the best insights come in just a couple of minutes. People love content that’s direct and to the point. The more you drag things out—either by going off-topic or repeating yourself endlessly—the more you dilute the quality of what you’re offering. Think about it: why are TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts so addictive? It’s because they’re short and engaging. The same applies to your community content. If you want to keep people engaged, don’t bore them with drawn-out courses that repeat the same information. Quality over quantity, every time. So, focus on delivering what your members actually came for. Respect their time, stay on topic, and provide valuable insights without the fluff. The secret to retention? Quality content. 1️⃣ It Builds Trust: Your members join for value. If your content consistently delivers helpful insights, solutions, or entertainment, they’ll trust you as a reliable source and stay loyal. 2️⃣ It Fosters Engagement: Great content sparks conversations and keeps people talking. The more engaging your posts, lessons, or resources, the more active and invested your community will be. 3️⃣ It Sets You Apart: Your unique voice and the quality of your content help distinguish your community from the countless others out there. Members will stick around when they know they won’t find what you offer anywhere else. A fun example is that of Alexander the great. He never used tactics from the book, he always opted for something new, and that's what made him win all his empire by the age of 32. You have to be innovative, you have to bring something new to the table. Its not even that hard, you just have to sit down and brain-storm ideas; eventually something clicks. 4️⃣ It Encourages Growth: When members feel they’re gaining real value, they’ll be more likely to share your community with others, leading to organic growth through word of mouth. You know if you just toss out the idea about making money from your mind, and rather incorporate the fact that you want to deliver value; its going to do you wonders! Money eventually follows. Content isn’t just about quantity—it’s about delivering value. Prioritize the quality of what you offer, and watch your community thrive long-term.
