I ask my prospects, "What does like look like in 6 months though if you haven't fixed these issues and they get worse?" Seems to put things into sharp perspective. I ask it all the time because that's the attitude that got me making changes.
Being Present
When do you all feel the most present? For me its activities that require all my brain power to focus. Things like dirt biking, playing sports, gaming. If you have ever been skydiving you probably know that its kind of hard to worry about work, bills, health and all that when the ground is coming at you at 120mph.

Agreed on all fronts haha. The things that require my whole attention are my favorite. Usually the consequence of not locking in are pain or death haha. That's intense but true lol. Besides video games I guess that's safe to "fail" for my physical state. Maybe not my mental 😂
Fitness Accomplishments
C'mon, brag a little...What accomplishments or goals have you met fitness wise as a father/dad? I love having something to work towards and find it to be a type of therapy as I push myself towards physical goals. Here are mine: -x2 half marathons -x1 marathon -Zion 20mile trail race -Ran 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours (Goggin's challenge) -Benched 315lbs -80hr fast (one of the hardest things I have done) -MURPH under 50min What should I do in 2025? I am so scared of triathlons because of the swimming!

My accomplishments are all really recent. I've always wanted a routine and for YEARS never could make it work. It was really frustrating. I always felt good when I went, just never could stick to it. So my accomplishements: 1. 5-6 day per week resistance training since end of June 2024 2. Up to 215 lbs from 204 since June, little to no extra body fat (also haven't loss much body fat either though lol) visual BF around 17% (goal is 225 by May this year) 3. Intense strength and size gains, I have a physique I'm finally proud of. 4. Obsessive over my program and very consistent so I can track Progressive Overload I love how I look and feel. FINALLY
Dark Hour Dads
I will be moving the Dark Hour Dads call to once monthly. It is officially wrestling season and Lincolns matches are on Monday nights. I love you all but I have way to much fun coaching Lincoln. The next call will be December 9th. I look forward to hearing from y'all!

Epic! Will miss you guys but I can't argue with your point here haha
Balance? Never Heard Of It
It seems like everyone always wants to talk about balance. "You just gotta have balance" or "find balance and you will be happy". I use to think that meant my days, weeks, and months are balanced with the right amount of work, exercise, time with family, learning, spirituality, etc... Now I am starting to think the only real achievable balance will be measured in decades. I am being pulled in too many directions right now to have the luxury of balance. If I prioritize something then another thing must be sacrificed. I think there are a lot of dads in the same boat and I think what is sacrificed is often our mental health. I just don't have time for a spa day!

Yeah balance has shifted in meaning quite a lot for me over the passed two years. I feel really balanced now even though I’m working more than ever. I’ve just learned to be really satisfied with the work. If I waste time I feel less satisfied which makes me feel unbalanced. So it’s a dance? Idk I just think breaks and days/time off come as a very welcomed luxury. And I fully disconnect when these opportunities come up. And right now that feels really good.
