Introduction
Well, hello everyone, I'm new(ish) to the community. I do in-home sales for a big HVAC company, so I'm sure you can figure out which companies I'm going to be targeting for SEO lol.

Local Map Pack question
Great content so far and excited to follow. Caleb we manage a local plumber in NC and trying to get into the map pack is a bit longer than we anticipated. Obviously trying to rank for plumber near me, or emergency plumber and all of his services. Should we try and rank the general plumbing site homepage for water heater replacement or create a separate page for it? He does in fact want to increase the sales in this service and your Plano example is one that caught our eye to join and follow?

Your gbp landing page should target primary category + city. Then do a service page and supporting content for water heaters. Unless you ONLY want to rank for water heaters. Then you can make it the home page

๐ŸŒฑ Drop Your Origin Story Below! How Did Your SEO Journey Begin?
Real talk: My SEO journey started completely by accident in Biloxi, Mississippi. I was running a business consulting practice, hitting up Chamber of Commerce meetings and networking events... And literally EVERYONE kept asking the same question: "Can you help me get found online?" Eventually, I stopped saying no and started saying yes. That one shift changed everything ๐ŸŽฏ The game-changer? Upwork. That platform helped me scale to a 7-figure SEO agency. Who would've thought local networking + freelance platforms would be such a powerful combo? Now I'm curious about YOUR story! Drop below: What pulled you into the SEO world? Where did your first real clients come from? What unexpected turn led to your biggest breakthrough? Whether you're just starting out or running an established agency, every journey has those surprising twists that make it unique ๐ŸŽข Let's hear yours! ๐Ÿ‘‡

@Sharyn Read Getting traffic from Amazon's FBA worked great back in '08, but losing those other sites was a wake-up call. Smart move making SEO your first stop when you jumped back in for 2020. Nothing happens without traffic!

@Frederic Sune Smart move repackaging your services! You found that bundling everything under "Basic SEO" resonated better with clients than selling technical SEO, content, and local services separately. Sometimes it's all about presentation - when clients understand what they're getting, they're more likely to buy. So many web designers say they do SEO, but they really just write random blog posts. Glad to see your goal is to actually do SEO! =)
Upwork profile
I'm a relative beginner in doing SEO work, and I'm starting to think the Upwork course isn't designed for me. I'm going through the Upwork course, and I'm not seeing any advice on how to make a Profile Overview if I don't have past projects or achievements. Or how I do Employment History when I have no relevant past jobs. As a beginner, how do I get started?

It's absolutely designed for beginners in the space. It gives prompts for having AI help you with your past experience, whether related or not, and write an employment history that is relevant to what you want to do. Just give AI your past jobs / resume / LinkedIn profile and use that prompt and it will link them for you. Then, just start submitting proposals as soon as you can and be consistent about it.
