🥁 EXAMPLE: How YouTube Builds Your Brand TO Charge A LOT!
👶🏼 "I want to be hired as a musician" 👨🏾💼 "Wow. Tough Ask! That's a lot of competition." 👶🏼 "Well, I can play really good, here's my spotify band" 👨🏾💼 "ok well i don't care" This is likely how the people that would pay for your service will act to YOUR service. It's not that they don't have a place to hire, it's they don't have a place for YOU! HOW DO WE CHANGE THAT CONVERSATION? "Show-Off." Ick. I know. BUT, think about it more like "Demonstrate!" For this musician's example, Your stupid Spotify band isn't going to cut it. You need a Youtube channel (Instagram, or TikTok, or, Podcast, or Linkedin or Twitter). This platform has to make them like you and see your "DEMONSTRATIONS" of : 1. being good 2. entertainment 3. value adding (of course) Make someone a fan, and when they want to hire someone... THEY THINK OF YOU. You don't even need to sell (that hard)! Imagine you're the person who wants to hire a drummer and you follow THIS GUY [WHO PERFECTLY DEMONSTRATES HIS SKILL AND PASSION] Do you think he's cheap? Do you think he's available? probably nope to both. WHY? Because he built his brand. He did this very well. He likely get's people hitting him up often and trying to pay a LOT 💸! and he's a drummer... NOT A SINGER!

His name is Jorge. He is from Valencia, Spain. He’s an amazing drummer not because he is specially talented (his words, not mine) but because he has been sitting behind his kit for 8 hours a day, every single day, for almost 20 years. He started on YouTube almost by accident. He thought he was quitting drums for good to get a “real” job, so he started recording a few songs to have some videos of himself playing. He shared those videos and started gaining notoriety. He’s an extremely smart guy. Started studying sociology in university, but was kicked out because he was skipping so many classes. He is pretty much against social networks. He always said that he is only there as it’s now his “job”. Jorge (El Estapario Siberiano) is a complete outlier. Not only because he is in the top 1% in terms of technical ability, but also because he quickly found his own style as entertainer and was a pioneer in terms of the content he creates. In my opinion I don’t think that a lot of musicians can expect the same level of results. Music is an ultra competitive market on socials.

By the way, speaking about music. Don’t know if anyone is into Eurovision, but this year I’m ine of the 7 finalists of the Luxembourg Song Contest with my band Rhythmic Soulwave. The winner of this contest will be representing Luxembourg 🇱🇺 in Eurovision in Basel (Switzerland) in May 2025. If anyone is curious, the song (“Stronger”) is available on all streaming platforms. The show will be televised on the 25th of January. Wish me luck guys.

How to think outside of the box?
For a little while, - Stop Listening to music - Stop Watching YouTube / Movies / TV - Stop Hanging out with people - Stop Useless Zoom Calls (joined or hosted) - Stop Video Games - Stop Weed / Alchohol - Stop Eating Junk - Stop ANYTHING that gives you INPUT! In other words. GET BORED. Only when you stop the input, can you output.

What a great topic for a live call. I’m extremely interested in this subject as I think I’ve been struggling with procrastination, lack of persistence and maybe even self-sabotage lately. However, unfortunately I won’t be able to attend this time as I have a previous professional engagement on Tuesday at that exact time that I cannot move.
