Tangled Mess
Hello! Josephine here 🧑‍🌾 Earlier, I shared the excitement of our blooming veggies —but now I’m flipping the script with a concern: I think my peas might be struggling! 😬 It’s tough to tell because they’ve turned into an epic tangled mess (lesson learned: next time, invest in a better trellis—string just isn’t cutting it for these climbers!). The issue seems to be that the vines near the base are wilting, while the ones near the top look healthy and happy. Is this normal? The gardener in me wants to dive in, clean up the dead vines, and give the thriving ones more room to grow. But: a) It’s hard to tell what’s actually dead and what’s just struggling, and b) The vines are so intertwined that pulling out one might hurt the others—it’s like a little network of support down there! So I’m turning to you, my trusted green-thumbed community! I’d love to hear your advice! 🌟 Should I:

I am not a fan of diagnosing by visusal only.....but I believe when plants start to struggle for nutrients they will take from the lower part of the plant to keep growing.

@Robert Moellmer add organic material might add some soluable nutrients but you need the microbes (in a soil) to turn those organic materials into something the plant can use.
Veggie Update: WE GOT FLOWERS!! 🌸🌺🌼
Came home last night, and was taking inventory on the tangled mess that is our peas and cucumbers, and saw a pleasant surprise!! We finally got some flowers!! 🤩 Check it out! Because we're growing these inside, we'll need to pollinate these ourselves, which I'm prepared to do! It looks like we don't have any male flowers yet, just a couple female ones. But once we have at least one male flower, I'll video the process how to manually pollinate cucumbers! Fun fact: Pea plants actually self-pollinate! The male and female parts of the plant exist together inside the bud, and pollinates itself before blooming. So our pretty pink pea flower will become a pea-pod all on its own. Definitely a win for us, I love less work 🤪

Sushi Bowls!!
Josephine here! 🧑‍🌾 I had a customer rant and rave about microgreens in something called "sushi bowls". I can't believe I hadn't ever heard of them before, considering how much Rob and I love going out for sushi (Plus, it was significantly cheaper 🤪)! White Rice Nori Sheets (cut in strips, and tucked into the side of the bowl) Salmon fillet (cooked, and then shredded) cucumber carrots avacado Siracha-Mayo sauce Microgreens! I used Radish, Kale and Broccoli This is just what I personally like in my sushi bowls! What would you put in yours? Maybe a different sauce? Would love to hear all the ideas to try in my bowl next time! 🍚

Microgreens on pizza
Hey everyone! I met these guys at the Provo farmers market and I'm so stoked to learn more about microgreens. This was my first time using microgreens in a recipe, and I'd say mustard microgreens make quite a delicious pizza topping 😋 the little kick they give goes a long way!
