GPT-4o vs OpenAI o1 (In-depth Analysis)
Which model is best for YOU..? OpenAI has introduced the o1 model series, built on innovative "strawberry" architecture, enhancing reasoning for complex problem-solving. GPT-4o is versatile and multimodal, OpenAI o1 specializes in mathematical and coding challenges, reasoning-heavy tasks. Here's a comparison of their capabilities, speed, and cost. The details: • Reasoning Capabilities: OpenAI o1: Designed for deep reasoning through a "chain of thought" process, excelling in tasks like advanced math, coding, and logic-based queries. It breaks down problems step by step, improving accuracy in complex scenarios. GPT-4o: While proficient in handling general tasks, GPT-4o lacks the same level of reasoning depth, making it better suited for more straightforward, quick-response tasks. • Multimodal Functionality: GPT-4o: A powerhouse in multimodal tasks, processing text, speech, and video inputs seamlessly. Its integrated neural network makes it ideal for real-time applications like voice assistants and content creation tools. OpenAI o1: Limited to text-based tasks, lacking multimodal support, and slower due to its focus on detailed problem-solving. • Speed and Cost: GPT-4o: Optimized for speed and affordability, it processes tasks faster and at a lower cost, ideal for applications requiring quick responses. OpenAI o1: Trades speed for reasoning depth, resulting in slower, more expensive operations. The o1-preview model, for instance, costs up to $26 per million tokens, compared to GPT-4o's $5. • Multilingual Performance: OpenAI o1: Outperforms GPT-4o in multilingual tasks, particularly in less-resourced languages like Bengali and Arabic, thanks to its enhanced language understanding. GPT-4o: Still performs well in multilingual settings, but lags behind o1 in handling more linguistically diverse or complex scenarios. Why it matters: The decision between GPT-4o and OpenAI o1 depends on your needs. For general, multimodal tasks with a focus on speed and cost, GPT-4o is the clear winner.

I found o1 a bit too verbose. Sometimes it stays stuck at thinking stage. And it kinda screwed up at basic math 🤣 But Open AI is still perfecting it, I guess. I don't doubt they will make it great in the next weeks.
Do you chain your prompts?
How important is multi-prompt chaining for you? For example, if I'm using AI to write a blog post, I might have one prompt create the structure and then the next prompt execute on it. Or, another example, if determining branding, one to narrow in on the target market's dreams and another to examine how to help them achieve their dreams. Do you do this? If so, for what? And do you use orchestration/automation tools for this? Would you like to?

@Matt Ferrante I chain GPTs (or Claude projects) and I chain prompts for each AI assistants. I use make .com or ChatGPT ( command @) to do this.😁

@David Gabel I like this idea. 🤣
